This is part of the reason why I cannot put my baby in Daycare. It isn't an isolated incident. I know there are good daycares out there, but they aren't regulated as much as they should be. I hate people who hurt children...makes me sick!!!

I'm sitting here crying reading this! The thought of that baby crawling off. It makes me want to put this woman through a slow agonizing death!!!! How could anyone do this and where was everyone else? Now I just want to go wake cruz up from his nap and hold him!!
The punishment for murdering an innocent child should be far worse than murdering an adult. I agree stories like this make me feel so lucky have the opportunity to be a SAHM

why do we even have to hear about stories like this. It's incredibly disturbing and even more so to those of us who don't have a choice in being able to stay home with our children.

you have to hear about them because they happen. you can't hide from it. knowledge is power. knowing that things can happen makes you more diligent in making sure you choose wisely and follow your instincts if you think anything is amiss. it helps you be a better parent to be more on guard.
that said, i cant' read the article. Just seeing the responses makes me know it's more than I can handle to read....

Agreed. How can we NOT hear about things like this? It would be irresponsible and dangerous not to.
how would you even know something was amiss? Seriously! I couldn't even read the article after seeing some of the responses. How could anyone find anything newsworthy or beneficial about a story like this other than to freak people out about leaving their children during the day!

so are you saying that we shouldn't include anytihng bad in the news? I just don't understand. There are stories about tragedies all the time. People get murdered, it's in the news. People rob a bank, it's in the news. That's just how it works.
Should they not show stories about plane crashes since that could freak you out about flying? Or not show stories about a serial killer because taht could freak you out about going jogging in the area or something? We all take risks every day, based on the knowledge and information we have, and we have to have information to be able to use it.
I'm not sure why they shouldn't expose someone when they do something terrible. People should have the right to know.
It just distrubs me ...all these reports about kids who were killed because some adult lost it...or DCS dropped the ball on some kid that was being starved. I just get tired of hearing these senseless stories! It's just way too upsetting to me. This is why I try not to watch the news!

I completely understand not wanting to read something like this, but you seriously think that the Chicago Tribune should be censoring the news to make sure that no one sees anything scary??
I totally agree that these types of stories should be printed, to serve as a warning for all parents to be vigilent. But I have not been able to get past this all day. It is probably mostly because my 3rd trimester hormones are presenting so much stronger than they had during previous two. I just think that this is the most horrible thing...Not just for this little baby, but for his poor parents, who entrusted their child to this person. I just can't imagine dropping off my child, only to have him killed at daycare. There is no punishment great enough for this girl, or that fits the crime. This story hits all of us (especially us) where it hurts the most.
I am still crying over this!!!

Scarletti, I'm didn't mean to freak anyone out and if I did, I'm so sorry. I also didn't mean to scare anyone re. day care. I just posted this because I can't imagine there are people like this out there! She is a monster. I seriously doubt this is the norm.

I can almost picture this baby crawling with his blankie..I'm not a violent person, but I realy want to bash this woman's head to the ground.
