Worried about change in movement

I'm sure I've heard this before, but please reassure a MoM to be.  While my baby girl (who is implanted low and on the left side of my belly) has been kicking stronger and more often, I noticed over the weekend that I wasn't feeling anything from the other side.  DH and I poked around last night and found baby boy hanging on the right, but I still haven't felt kicks over there, especially not like I'm getting from the other side.

I know they could change position, but I'm starting to freak out.  I have an ultrasound scheduled tomorrow, I don't want to call the doctor unless it's an emergency, but he had said to call if I ever felt that anything was "off".

Advice, experience?  Should I just call the MFM?

Thank you!

Re: Worried about change in movement

  • it is possible that both babies are kicking on your left side or one baby is kicking the other. If you are really worried I would call your OB even though you have an appt. tomorrow.
  • Call your doctor today!!!  Trust me, he won't be upset that you are calling.  They should get you in and do a quick u/s.

  • I would call your OB if you have concerns.  I found it difficult to track movements sometimes as well, especially when they could still move around. Towards the end they did not have as much space so tracking their kicks was easier.  Give your OB a call, there is nothing wrong with calling especially if it will give you peace of mind!!

  • I have an anterior placenta on one, so I hardly feel any movement on that side. I know it's different from your situation, but my OB told me that as long as I'm feeling regular movement, that's a good sign. He said it may always be hard for me to feel the other. As pp mentioned, they may have moved around a bit so that DS is kicking, but you're feeling it on the opposite side from where you used to. I know mine are a in a different position at every u/s!
  • my advice is to call if anything feels "different" that "normal" for your pregnancy. ?better to be safe. ?if you're closely monitored by your MFM call them. ?or call both and see who gets back first. ?keep us posted. ?i'm sure the change is due to change in position or lack of room, but it can't hurt to call.
  • Thank you.  I'm at school, so I'll call as soon as my kids head to lunch.  My MFM is wonderful, I just don't want to be a paranoid patient :-)
