Re: measuring ahead

  • I measured about 3 days ahead, my doctor was not concerned either.

  • Yep, I measured ahead too, even though I have my LMP and my O date. Problem for me is that it messed up my insurance and they won't base my conception date on or after my O date. Basically they say we conceived a good 4 days before I O'd.

  • My first us I was supposed to be 6w4d and was measuring about2 days ahead. Second I was supposed to be 8w3d but measured 9w1d, so 5 days difference. Don't know when I O'd or anything, but doc nor myself was worried. I'd rather be measuring ahead than behind, that would scare me more!

  • I actually measured two-three days behind.
  • 4 days is not that much. Most drs won't think much of it or change your due date or anything.
  • I'm pretty sure doctor's will only change the due date is you are 10 or more days off.  This happend to a friend of mine whose original date was January 12 and now it's January 24... poor her!

  • My DS always measured about 10 days ahead and this baby is measuring a week ahead.  Totally common.  DS was born 2 days before due date.  Be happy, your baby is most likely plump and healthy and developing wonderfully :)
  • How far along are you? I went in today for a u/s and asked about the accuracy of the dating. They said that at 7 weeks a baby can measure +/- 5 days. As the age increases so does the error rate of the dating. By 20 weeks they said it could be +/- 2 weeks. I'd ask your doc how far off yours might be.

They also said that the age esitmation can vary based on where the person measuring put their marks. When you're talking about a baby this 2.5 inches, it is easy to be off by just a little :-)
