To work, or not to work, that is the question...
I'm supposed to work tomorrow. There will only be 4 of us (4 is the ideal # of people to have for the day's work, though 3 is do-able).
BUT...hubby is off for long weekend, and good high-school friend is in from NYC and since I last saw her, she got engaged, and I got pg (she doesn't know I'm pg yet) She called to see if I want to go to breakfast with her and another hs friend.
So, would you lcall-out and leave coworkers short-staffed to visit with friends/hubby, or would you be a good doobie and go to work?
Re: NBR: WWYD?
i agree. it would be one thing if you had taken off to begin with but for it to just dawn on you that it would be more fun to be at home, i'd go in. i'd be annoyed if a co-worker did this to me.

I don't really feel that bad when it comes to this, because I've been there 11 mos., called out once when I really was super sick, and they all do it at least every other week.

I would be a loser and go in. I would be worried about the bad karma of using a "sick day". But, my situation is a little different. I work in a hospital (people get reaaallly pissed if you call in) and haven't taken a sick day in seven years.
Could you do lunch with your friend during your lunch break? Or do breakfast and go in late?
I don't understand the guilty feelings... If you have the personal time to take, that is what it's there for. Personal days are just that - yours to do with what you want and if this is important to you, why shouldn't you be able to spend it on that. I think as long as you're not totally screwing your coworkers it's perfectly legit.
