I have $50 worth of GCs to Barns and Noble. I'd like to pick up a few books either for pleasure or baby related and maybe even something for DD. I enjoy chick lit but not all of it (never got into Shopaholic series but LOVED the Jen Lancaster books). I also like Jodi Picoult type books. I loved The Memory Keeper's Daughter as well. As for baby related stuff, I already have What to Expect the First Year and First Year Week by Week as well as plenty of PG books. Any other suggestions?
Re: Rec some good books for ME
TWILIGHT.
I SO didn't think it'd be my style, but I am hooked!
Twilight saga for sure!! Ditto co.
The Other Boleyn Girl and others by Phillipa Gregory.
Jennifer Weiner (Little Earthquakes, In Her Shoes, etc)
Nineteen Minutes, Plain Truth are two good Jodi Picoult books
jealous of your gc's, I LOVE buying books
Have you read The Glass Castle? It is really good!
My all time favorite book is Interpreter of Maladies.
Definitely Twilight Saga. ?So not my style either but loved these!
Maybe something by Emily Griffin? ?Something Borrowed, Something Blue and Baby Proof. ?Good chick lit!?
Recent books I liked a lot:
The Story of Edgar Sawtelle - David Wroblewski
The Road - Cormac McCarthy
American Wife - Curtis Sittenfeld
The Hour I First Believed - Wally Lamb (not as good as his first two - if you haven't read those they are must reads)
The Brief Wondrous Lofe of Oscar Wao - Junot Diaz
What Was Lost - Catherine O'Flynn
Also, any/all of Tom Perotta's or Barbara Kingsolver's books
I am reading Obama's Memoirs of my Father right now and it is also very good
Another vote for the Glass Castle.
