TTC After a Loss

Just curious - probably being overly paranoid

Hi ladies - we're jumping back in to the TTC game after getting the clear to go ahead from the doctor. ?I'm currently in the 2ww, probably 2 or 3 DPO (me and fertility friend are having a dispute over my O day, haha). ??

?I normally exercise on the treadmill (walking at about 3.5 mph) for about 50 minutes a day. ?We also have a stationary bike. ?During the 2ww where I got pregnant I cut down to 30 minutes on the treadmill and took some more time off than I normally would (normally walk 6 days a week, cut down to 4 or 5). ?

I have heard that I should avoid working out from about 7-11 DPO, or that I should just cut out the workout all together during the 2ww. ?Since I didn't the first time, I don't really want to now. ?Does anyone have any opinions on this? ?And also, DH asked if the stationary bike was okay to use during TTC. ?I don't see why it wouldn't be I guess....TIA!

?(Sorry if this was rambling)?

  • I have been told that if you did it before you were pregnant, you can continue to do it while trying and while pregnant.  Within reason, obviously...not to exhaustion and passing out and to stay away from contact sports or things where you can fall.  I think it's better for the pregnancy to stay fit.  This is what my Dr. said to me.

  • Nice to see you again!

I haven't heard about not doing exercise between 7-11dpo or even stopping in the 2ww. Personally, I would carry on with your normal routine (not introducing anything new into it) if you feel up to it. You will be fine.

But I am from the school of thought of not changing anything during the 2ww, it just adds too much stress and sets you up for an even more disappointing cd 1. Thats just me though.

    Good luck TTC?

  • Sorry, forgot to add that I heard that with bike riding, it can make your DH's testes heat up and possibly have some detrimental effects on his sperm count?  I've read some articles on it...I am not sure the validity of it.  Oh, and good luck!

  • I don't chart during the 2ww either!! Once O is confirmed I'm done until the next cycle or the BFP. ?

?Also DH doesn't ride the bike, I put it together so he thinks its a POS (it is, the screws are really loose on it). ?Just me. ?

  • I too have read that you can continue with your workout habits during pregnancy or while TTC.  Once PG, in 3rd trimester, probably you have to adjust your workouts accordingly.

I have never heard not to work out during the 2ww or certain days past O.

I think like the pp above, that biking is not best for DH due to the pressure/heat it can put on the swimmers - best not to add any grief or stress to those boys!

Good luck.  Hope his is your cycle!

  • I never heard that.  I continued to lift weights and everything through out my 2WW.  I did cut out the weight lifting after my BFP though even though I have been told I could lift light weights.  But I continued to walk on the treadmill.  If your concerned just don't let yoru hr get ubove 140.  Which is what my Dr's said not to do.
