12 weeks - too early to order nursery furniture?

I fell in love with the Wendy Bellissimo CHerry line they sell exclusively at BRU.  I figured that when the room was ready for the nursery, I would order the furniture, likely around 5 months.  Well, I was at BRU last night and spoke to the sales representative and found out they are blowing out the whole Wendy Bellissimo line and will stop selling it after Monday.  The set typically costs 1600, with the clearance price and an additional 15% off BRU is running it would only be 1100.

So, my dilemma is, if I want it I need to order it today.  BRU is the only carrier, I looked. The pros are I love the furniture, have not seen anything I like nearly as much, and would get a great price.  The cons are it is much earlier than I planned, the nursery is not ready so will the furniture will be sitting in our spare room a bit and what if (god forbid) something goes wrong with the pg?  Any advice?

I posted this on the Nursery Decor board too but wanted to post it here as well since I need to figure this out today!

Re: 12 weeks - too early to order nursery furniture?

  • If you really love it, I would get it and just not set it up (obviously) for awhile. If you loose the pregnancy you will be really sad anyway and it will just be tucked away somewhere for next time. I don't think it's like having a whole nursery set up, which is sort of creepy if something happens. You don't want to look back and regret that you didn't get the stuff you really wanted, especially on sale.
  • i dont think so if you love it get! that simple?

  • I would buy it but that's me. Once you are 3 months your risk of losing the pg goes down considerably.

  • I'd get it if you really love it.

Not too sound too pessimistic but something can happen at any time. Friends of our lost their baby on their EDD.

  • One girl on the 2nd tri board ordered hers at 20 weeks into the pregnancy and was told it wouldn't arrive for 16-20 weeks, so now is certainly not too early!

  • Ordinarily I would say to wait, but if it is something that you won't be able to get later and you really like it, then I say go for it!
  • If you love it, I think you should buy it!

I guess you just have to be optimistic that everything will be ok :) I bought some furniture that early with my first pregnancy and just tucked it away.

  • i would order it if you're going to save a significant amount of money. ?just don't set it up immediately. ?that way, you can store it while you get the nursery ready.?

  • GIRL!!! GO get it!!! If you love it, if you REALLY ove it then get it!!! Like the other ladies said.. Just don't set it up right away...

From what I've been told some nursery furniture takes a while to come in anyway, it's not like going to the store and just picking it up.

If you love it and feel it's a great deal and have shopped around for other items you might love just as much, then buy it and when it comes in, stick it in the garage and pretend it's not there until you're ready for it.  Even have it shipped to your mom's or mil if you don't want to have it in the house.

  • How are we supposed to get Wendy Bellissimo now?  Sad

  • I would get it.  You are close to being out of the danger zone for miscarriage.  Sure something could happen -- but most likely you would try again and be able to use your furniture regardless.  Go for it!

  • I still haven't ordered mine.

  • I would wait!  If you lose the baby, that would be the most horrible reminder of your loss, something that you liked so much.  Can't you just register for maybe the crib, then pay out for the other pieces?

  • I would order it.  Even if something happens, you are going to need the furniture eventually and it's what you want and a good price.

You are nearly out of the major danger area, so I would say that there is almost no difference between ordering furniture now and ordering it in several weeks.

  • We bought our crib and chest when I was 7w b/c the store I bought it from was clearing all of their stock to get all new inventory.  If I had it to do over again I probably wouldn't have gotten what I did, b/c I've seen stuff that I liked better, but I was very caught up in the moment that if I wanted a great deal I had to get it then.  If you really like it, I would get it though.
