1st Trimester

When did you start noticing weight gain?

I am 6 weeks pregnant and noticed that all my regular sized pants are tight!!  I have not gained pounds just feeling bloated and bigger!!  Anyone else feeling this way?  When was it you gave in to maternity pants?

Re: When did you start noticing weight gain?

  • I'm in the same boat. Totally rocking the bloat! Check out Bella bands before going for the big maternity leap-I found mine new on e-bay for $8 but I havn't used it yet : )
  • Bloat sucks! I still haven't made it into maternity pants. Still wearing all my regular jeans. Lots of people here have recommended the bella band, but I haven't tried it yet.

  • I have yet to gain weight. In fact, I have lost about 5 lbs. But, I am unable to wear just about all of my old jeans. I'm starting to ease into maternity jeans, but they're kind of big still.

  • Thanks!  I will have to try bella bands.  Stupid question, how go they work?  Is it that you leave your button undone and the bella band holds up your pants/jeans?
  • I gave in last week my mat jeans are the best mine are still big but better than pinching myself into my old jeans
  • I have gained a lb per week so far.  Yep, 10 lbs heavier since my BFP.  My doc said it's fine since I was slightly underweight to begin with.  Guess your body does what it needs to since I have been eating like a horse since week 5 (no joke).  Everyone around me is amazed.

    You gon' eat that??

  • I've been bloated for a little while, to the point where people are starting to notice I'm PG already, and it's WAY early to be showing. I got a bella band at Target, but haven't used it yet. I had some pants a size too big from when I used to weigh more, so I've been wearing those and stretchy pants.

  • All my pants still fit the same. I am sure this will change soon.

  • Only this past week did I switch to a pair of pre-weightloss jeans, but more for comfort than necessity. Had an appt on Thursday and haven't gained a single pound so far... kinda shocked at that one.

I haven't been able to eat much of anything so far though... tonight for instance, I'm eating bean dip on celery for supper. Yummm.

  • i'm totallyt bloated. i can't wear any bras and my pants all have hair ties through the button holes and wrapped around the buttons. everyone says to stay in regular clothes as long as possible, my boyfriend is getting me a bella band for our anniversary, whoo hoo.

my problem is that i don't want to buy a bigger bra, cause i'm just swollen enough to not fit in my regular ones, but come my second trimester, i know my boobs are gonna be way way bigger, i don't want to waste money on these short in between stages!

  • I was really bloated and wore the bella band for two weeks, but now the bloat is gone and my jeans fit yah!! I know that it will only be for a bit..

  • 10 weeks for me, but everyone is different! My doctor told me I should gain about a pound a week. I'm almost 12 weeks right now and I've gained 7.
  • Technically, you should only gain a few pounds in the entire first trimester but most experience so much bloating that they still have issues with their clothes fitting- or NOT fitting. I wore maternity pants at 10 weeks when I was pg with #1. Not because I was showing or had gained a lot of weight, but because my hips spread quickly and I was bloated and terribly uncomfortable in my pants.

  • None to date. It's called bloat honey.
  • I've lost weight, actually. Bloat has made my pants a little uncomfortable, but I look the same as I did before bfp. I know it's wishful thinking, but it would be nice to be one of those girls who can wear her normal jeans throughout most of the pregnancy (I really do not want to buy a whole new maternity wardrobe and then a fat wardrobe after, you know?).
  • I've only gained about 2 pounds now, but my old pants were getting so uncomfortable due to bloat. ?I finally gave in 2 weeks ago and bought 3 pairs of maternity pants. ?They are so much more comfortable!
  • So, I was maybe a touch underweight to begin with, and I got my BFP on Christmas Day. Between being underweight, all the holiday food, and pregnancy before m/s, I gained like 5 pounds in literally a week or so. I don't own a scale at home and had just weighed myself at my parents over the holidays. I was already unbuttoned on late week 4. Bought new bras (just 3 on clearance from Target) on week 5 along with a pair of brown stretchy pants that I literally wear every day the moment I get home from work. I had a bunch of pants that were always a little too big in the waist (my hips are what drive pant fit for me) that now are quite snug but bareable that I use for being in public. I'm sure maternity stuff won't fit for at least another few weeks, but the 'good' news is that I think I've been losing some weight and fitting better into regular clothes since I started throwing up everyday with m/s (started week 6). I say: buy some great stretchy pants (one or 2 pairs), make sure you have long shirts that can hide the hair-tie through the button on your pants, and get just a few cheaper bras for you current stage. I spent no more than $60 on this stuff, and it's been totally worth it for the last few weeks to be comfortable.
  • Yep. I've gained under a lb and almost 13 weeks, but have had to buy maternity pants becuase of the bloat and now the bump!
