Great News From My Insurance Company

I am so happy. I just got off the phone with my insurance company- everything is covered 100%. I only have to pay a $15 copay once for ALL my OB visits and they cover US 100%. The also have no limit on the number of U/S. :) When I am admitted to the hospital, I will have a flat $100 co-pay. This is such a relief. We were really wondering how much the bills were going to be.?

Re: Great News From My Insurance Company

  • wtf?! can your insurance give me insurance a lecture on how to not suck? that's awesome!
  • Dang you!  It's costing us $1,500.00.  Oh, well... le sigh.

  • Mine covers all of my prenatal care too -- no limit on u/s, but the $100 flat fee for a hospital delivery? That's amazing. I've NEVER heard of that!!!!!!!

  • I am so jealous!  We estimated that at the most it will cost us $3500 for this little sea monkey.  Although that is much better than the 15K my doctor said it would probably cost without the insurance.

  • My insurance covers 100% too- but I have a $2000 detuctable.

  • That's great!  We had a policy in which we would have had to pay around 1500 for the hospital.  DH just switched companies (after I asked them if being pg would be a dealbreaker) to one that has similar coverage to yours.  I HATE insurance companies!

  • I know. It sounds way too good to be true. I am wondering if we will get charged co-pays for specialists. However, I had a kidney infection last year and was in the hospital for 2 days and it was just $100. We will see what happens.

  • That's wonderful!  Mine is really great too...I don't even have copays!  I had no idea that my insurance was so good.  I guess it is true what they say about good benefits if you work for the state!
  • That's great!  Mine is similar, but one thing that they didn't mention at first was that while all OB and delivery was covered like that, anything I had to go out of the doctor's office for ( bloodwork, u/s, etc) is only covered at 80%.  You might want to check and see if that's the case with yours as well.  It's not a big deal for us since the charges have been pretty minimal (about $25 for my u/s I think), but I just wanted to give you a heads up.

  • Sounds WAY too good to be true. I would call back and get another rep on the phone and ask the same questions. Then repeat. LOL. You'd be surprised how stupid insurance company reps can be sometimes!!

(sorry, no offense to you ladies who work for insurance companies - I'm just tainted b/c my insurance company tried every angle possible to not pay for my pregnancy. They even told me b/c I conceived prior to going on their plan, it was a pre existing condition. Oh, and my large corporation is "self founded" and doesn't follow the state laws that say pregnancy is NEVER a pre existing condition...I could go on and on).

They covered my U/S 100%. I am very lucky. I only have to pay the 80% if it is an out of network provider. They do all of my bloodwork and the U/S right in my clinic. That might have something to do with it. ?

  • My employer offers the same plan...I think my premium is about $20 a month more than a PPO, but I get the awesome pregnancy benefits!
Um, yeah. The Bump be too crazy for pics of my kid.
  • I paid $10 for my co-pay for the first office visit with DD and that was it.  No hospital co-pay. I had a c-section and they covered everything, even the spinal.
  • Just confirmed in our benefits book- yep, all is covered! As long as I stay in network- which everything should be. I am so relieved.?

I did find the co-pay for the OB is up to the OB and not the ins. company. It depends if they bill for each visit or "globally". I confirmed with my OB that they bill "globally".

  • That's awesome! Mine is the exact same way.  Mine was even better when I was pregnant w/my DD, I only had to pay a copy for my first prenatal appt, but that changed that.  I'll take what I have though! =)
  • The military Insurance is great! We dont pay for anything. We only have to pay for the extra ultrasounds (3D)!
