If you could pick any warm tropical island to vacation to, which one would you choose and why? Have you been there before and if so, would you recommend it to others and why?
I would either go to St. Lucia, it's beautiful with the mountains and the coastline and the people are amazingly warm and friendly or I would go St. John, USVI, it's underdeveloped since most of it is designated a national park. You can hike and snorkel within feet of one another.
Ahh to be at either place now instead of inaugural land. . . ..
Anywhere in the USVI or BVI! We went to St. Thomas for our honeymoon & spent a day on St. John. I LOVED it and can't wait to go back! There are some pics in my bio.

After 5.5 years of loss, heartbreak, and empty arms, our dreams were fulfilled through the beautiful, selfless gift of adoption. We are amazingly blessed!
Aruba was a port of call on one of the ships I worked on - I did two different contracts on that ship and was therefore able to frequent Aruba weekly for 6 months, twice - my contract in 2001 and again in 2006.
I love Aruba because not only are the beaches beautiful and clean, but the island is also clean and friendly. The island is also very diverse - it is tropical, yet there is also desert areas. The public transportation system is like no other in any of the Caribbean islands - it is cheap, user friendly, safe and always available. The locals are nice and helpful. There are plenty of restaurants for every taste throughout the island. The downtown shopping is excellent - both high end and regular stuff.
I think Aruba has it all.

St John - great restaurants - shopping, amazing snorkeling, a little pricey to stay there though because there are not many hotels. Last time I went we stayed on St Thomas and took the ferry ( 40 min) to St John. St Thomas. has some small reasonable hotels and the island is also beautiful.. I have a restaurant, shopping, beach list I could send if anyone is going if I can figure out how too. Not a great techie - this is why my history is not posted.
