Overnight help needed

I'm at my wits end after having to completely change my baby's pj's twice last night. We cannot seem to find an overnight diaper solution that works for us. If we're lucky we manage to go about 4 hours max. He's 2 1/2 months old and hates to feel wet.

We can get about 3-4 hours in a Happy Hempy stuffed with a hemp insert sandwiched in a microfiber towel. I top that with a pair of wool longies that are double layered in the soaker area. Even with that combo he's still soaked and unhappy.

Last night we tried Drybees Fleece Night Time diapers stuffed with a hemp insert sandwiched in a microfiber towel. Neither of the two I tried lasted more than two hours before his back was soaking wet. Both times the outside of the diaper was dry and the inside and insert were damp, not soaked. Could this have been a prep issue?

We've also tried Crickett's in the past. They didn't absorb enough even with the snap in and another doubler.

Any suggestions? We're trying to get him to sleep longer but it won't work if we can't keep him feeling dry.

  • I would get a different microfiber insert and try that.  I have had very little luck with the towels for some reason - if I put one in a nighttime diaper for Will I have the same problem you do.  What works for us is a FB stuffed with the big BG insert and a FooFoo hemp insert.

  • Shows just how sleep deprived I am. I have a bunch of microfiber inserts in his Happy Heiney's I could try instead of the towels. It didn't even occur to me that a towel vs. a real insert could make a difference.
  • I had a lot of trouble with my son from about 18 months until he potty trained recently. I honestly tried everything and never found a solution besides making sure I changed him before he peed out. At one point it was disposables, changing him every 2 hours at night. We switched back to cloth and I did cricketts, and changed him 2-3 times a night. As he got closer to potty training, he did start peeing less at night and it helped a lot. In the last couple of months he could make it all night in a cricketts without a doubler even.

I really like berry plush snap in soakers as a doubler.

  • :-)  I hear you about being sleep deprived!  Hopefully that will work for you.  I have no idea why it makes a difference but it does for me!
