ds is freaking out at night

ds has been an amazing sleeper for a long time. ?(he was horrible under 9 months) He goes to bed at 8:45 and sleeps till 8:30. ?It has been so nice to get such amazing sleep. ?Well 3 nights ago it all changed. ?The first night he woke up at 12:30 hysterical. ?I went in b/c I was so shocked to hear him up I figured he was sick or something. ?But he didn't seem sick. ?I rubbed his back and after 20 minutes he fell asleep. ?The second I walked out he woke up and started screaming. ?I put him in our bed. (he never sleeps in our bed) ?After 2 hours he fell back asleep. ?Then the 2nd night he was up at 5 doing this. ? Last night he did it again at 12:30 and when I went in he started saying dora and diego half asleep. ?Isn't that wiierd? ?Dh stayed in the room with him for an hour and he finally fell asleep. ?But he seems so scared and gets hysterical. ?I tried leaving him for a few minutes hoping he will fall back asleep but he gets absolutely hysterical. ?I just think this is really strange and Im wondering why all of a sudden he is doing this? ?any ideas?

I'm no help but if you figure it out let me know cause my 17 month old has been doin this for about a month now.. NOT fun...

my son did that last night, i think he is getting a cold.  ugh.
