I need monitor help

All of a sudden, our baby monitor is crapping out on us! Randomly, for two or three nights now (not in a row) in will all of a sudden start making the noise that it makes when the microphone part is turned off. I guess we will get a new one, but I was just wondering if any one else had the same thing happen, and what they did about it. It is a Fisher-Price Lights and Sounds monitor.

There may be something interferring with it. Not sure if changing the monitor will help though. Does it have a different channel?

I have tried changing the channel and it doesn't help at all. Moving around to different areas of the house doesn't help either. I'm sort of afraid to get a new one in case it is an interference thing.
