- When did you start wearing your DC?
- What type did you start with?
- What were some of the learning curves you had to go through?
- How long did it take you to feel comfortable that your DC wouldn't fall out?
Thanks! I've been practicing with my Moby Wrap and I'm nervous about using it for the first time.

Re: Baby Wearing Moms - Questions
Right away with a hot sling, around 6 months with my Ergo
No real learning curves
Pretty much after the first time.?
11 months
The day she was born I had her in a wrap. I had Bella and Ethan in the sling the day we came home from the hospital
A pouch with E and B, a wrap with M
The wrap is so easy after a few times.
1. Around 3 weeks maybe?
2. Moby Wrap, then Ergo at 3 months
3. I just practiced wrapping a few times, then put a stuffed animal in, then dd. I had dh watch and help to make sure I got it all right. With the Ergo, no learning curve, just adjusting it for comfort.
4. I was pretty comfortable with it from the first time I put dd in the Moby.
Good luck! I *love* my Moby.
I started wearing him right away - maybe a few days back from the hospital. I would have probably worn him a day or two back but our il were in town and were holding him whenever I wasn't.
I used a Bali Stretch Wrap - very much like a moby but so so pretty. (I still use this now with ds at 15 months)
None really. I mean the wrap is harder in the sense that there's so many options and ways to wrap it that it can seem overwhelming. But with a nb you're most likely going to use it in what moby calls the kangaroo hold or the cradle hold (I only ever used the kangaroo hold) so that's only two holds that you have to learn. One if you prefer one over the other. Once you have one down and you've done it a couple times you sort of get it after that. Then when ds got older and I wanted to do something new I would learn a new hold and would usually have it down after a few tries as well. It seems daunting but once you get into it, it's really not.
I felt comfortable right away. The kangaroo hold is actually pretty secure. Once you have them in it you'll see how snug they are and plus with them in a front hold you have your hands right there to lay on them if you felt you needed to. I really didn't feel awkward with it at all.
1. When she hit about 8 lbs. She was too small for everything before then, except the Peanut Shell, which we both hated.
2. We started with a Bjorn and used that until she got too chubby for it to latch. We now use an Ergo and I would highly recommend it! We both love it!
3. I think the biggest thing was just finding what we liked the best and what was not too complex to use. Thankfully I got a couple of carriers for free (hand me downs) and bought the others used.
4. I used to walk with my hands under her butt but it lasted about a month or less and now I know she is fine but sometimes I still do that. I guess its a comfort thing for me, kinda like I'm hugging her.
DH and I both used a sling within the first week of DS being home. ?He used a Karma baby and I used a peanut shell. ?I also used my baby hawk right away.
I waited until about 3 months to use the beco,?
I was comfortable ?right away with no learning curve.?my problem was buying too many carriers. ?
1. Pretty immediately.
2. Hotsling
3. None, really. It was easy to use!
4. I remember checking her constantly on our first trip to the grocery store because I was SURE she would tumble out ... but she was perfectly secure. I was good after that!
