Finally had my first appointment yesterday - she did another ultrasound (I had one at 7 weeks) to check the heartbeat, which I didn't expect so that was cool. Baby actually has a head!
Anyway, the point of the post is my doc says that sushi from reputable restaurants is totally fine. Cooked, raw, whatever. She said the fish is generally so fresh that listeria really isn't a concern. It's undercooked stuff that's been around for a while that is more cause for concern.
I'm not suggesting anybody should start eating sushi if it makes them feel uncomfortable and I'm sure different docs say different things, but I just thought it was interesting info and it definitely made my day!
Re: My doc gives a thumb's up to sushi
I want your doctor! I am CRAVING Sushi like a crazy person!
I am SOOO jealous - I *tried* to get my doc to give me the sushi go ahead and she said definitely no.
SAD.
Makes me feel better about having had an awesome sushi dinner 2 days before I got my BFP.
...think I will keep to the cooked stuff though.
Thank you for sharing that info!
