I'm sure you'll be fine. It probably doesn't have a large amount in it. I would stop using it though, just to be safe.
I use Mary Kay Timewise Cleanser. It doesn't have salicylic acid, but it does have a whole bunch of chemicals which I'm sure some people warn against. It's one of the things I've put in the "not going to worry about" category.
This mild acid is used to treat certain skin disorders, including acne, and you can find it in a number of skin products, such as cleansers and toners. It can penetrate facial oils to get deep into pores and clean out dead skin cells. Salicylic acid is in the aspirin family, so it can also help reduce inflammation or redness. BHA, or beta hydroxy acid, is a form of salicylic acid and is used in some topical exfoliants to reverse signs of aging.
But salicylic acid is another no-no for pregnant women. High doses of the acid in its oral form have been shown in studies to cause birth defects and various pregnancy complications.
***Again, doctors are being cautious by recommending that pregnant women avoid the topical use of salicylic acid. Small amounts applied to the skin ? such as a salicylic acid-containing toner used once or twice a day ? are considered safe, says Johnson.***
But the concern is stronger about face and body peels containing salicylic acid. "This kind of 'soaking' in the ingredient is similar to taking one or more aspirin when pregnant," she explains.

OMG! What do I do? What are u using to clean your face? I am kind of freaking out!!
Honey, sweetheart, darling, love...calm down, would ya?
Before you go sh!tting yourself over some clearasil, ask yourself this question: "Did I drink it?" If the answer is "no, of course not," then you will be fine.
My FIL is a dermatologist and as soon as I told him I was pregnant he advised me to stop using my toner which has salicylic acid. He was involved in a study, which showed that in long-term use it could cause birth defects. I think you are fine, I would just discontinue it.
and I do not think this question qualifies for another "oh god, not another stupid question, head hits desk response."

The question of "is salicylic acid safe durring pregnancy" isn't a stupid question however freaking out over something you've already used is a little much. Its all about the delivery.

I agree there is no sense in freaking out over something that is already done, but I also don't think there is anything wrong with wanting some reassurance or stories of someone else who was in the same situation. There are so many things that can potentially be harmful during pregnancy and it can be overwhelming sometimes to find out you have been unknowingly doing something could be hazardous.
I think the snarky, "don't drink it" ones are ridiculous though because there is medical proof that topical application can be hazardous. Maybe I am overreacting to that, because I really trust my FIL's medical advice.
I just noticed too two days ago. I switched to noxema which does not have it. I am going to ask my OB about this next week. I also have a face powder that has it in it -- who would have thought? Don't worry about it -- think of all of the stuff our parents did with us in the womb and most of us are fine.

I just got tricked into going to a Mary Kay party (sweet!) and they said that all of their products are made with "natural botanicals". Doesn't that mean no chemicals?

Don't worry about it. Your baby will be ok. But stop using it now and switch to something different. Everyone's face is different, so you'll probably have to try a few different things before you find something that works Read the labels.
My best results came when I exfoliate every day and used a gentle cleanser.
I used it for the first month of my pregnancy by accident- I read online (i think from this board actually) that it is a "no-no" during pregnancy so I immediately stopped using it- I just began using regular bar soap (which totally dries out my face but better than nothing) cause most of my facial cleansers have some kinda chemical in it that i am sure are not safe...
i just had an appt last friday in which i asked my doc if i was right by stopping the use of sylic acid and she looked at me like "oh god, you aren't still using it are you?" she made me freak a lil but i reminded myself it was only for the first month- but she def said that i COULD NOT use it - she doesnt want any of her patients using any of the "acids." she recommended a pregnancy hotline to ask questions however i am always working and go right to sleep when i get home, so it never happens (i just stopped using it period to be on the safe side)-----
good news is that my face actually has begun to clear up! finally!
annnd btw--- i know there has been a lot of snarking lately (i missed it all yesterday by playing hookie from work)---- but i do NOT think this is a horrible question at all- if i had never read this information on THIS board to begin with waaaay back in early december- than i would NOT have known that this was a problem---my doc did not hand out a "do's and don'ts" list so i get the majority of my information from google AND this site! i would NEVER have known to google this sooo therefore, sometimes questions that may seem silly to others need to be asked! it's not a dumb question at all!
Re: Just realized the cleanser Im using has SALICYLIC ACID !
oh no! your child will be born with no facial skin because you were a horrible mom!
It's a little too late to be freaking out about it now...

Don't drink it? Skin is an organ. Everything you put ON your skin is absorbed INTO your body.?
I am sure it is fine, just calm down and switch to something more natural. I like Dr. Haushka and Burt's Bees. ?
