I Can't Change DS's Diaper!!

My ds has had a sudden shift in personality...a once calm baby during diaper changes has gone BUCK WILD!! SurpriseI cannot keep him from flipping over and screaming! I know a lot of you have had to deal with this early on so give me some advice. How do you do it without having to be too forceful? I hate holding him down against his will but dang his poopy butt needs to be changed! TIA

  • My ds is the same way. Every diaper change or clothing change is now a wrestling match. It sucks.

  • Same here.  This morning she actually was calm and watched me put on her diaper.  Then she stood up and tried to take it off- Uh Oh.

  • This is just what I was describing in my post below....I pray it is just a phase!

  • He's gotten better, but I used to lay my son on the floor and throw one leg across his chest to hold him down during diaper changes. ?Yeah, pathetic, I know.

  • I try to vary the ways I keep him calm - he seems to get bored if I use the same tactics.  He loves to hold his hairbrush or lotion so those will give me a chance to do a poopy change.  Sometimes I call the cats in so he can watch them (LOL) or I give him a book (he looooves to flip through books).  Sometimes we do it on the floor for a different scenery or next to a full lenth mirror.  I've also done it in front of the tv to keep him still.

It's frustrating, I know!  And sometimes, all you can do is hold him down...

  • I am going through this with DD now too. The only thing that works for me is diverting her attention with something for her to hold during diaper changes like my car keys, a lint roller, diaper cream, a book, etc.

In my bag: Nikon D90; 35mm 1.8, 90mm 2.8 macro (my fave), Lensbaby Composer with macro extensions. BFP after 13 cycles and one ectopic. Lost left tube 5/19/10.
  • We've had this problem for a while so once DD hit 16lbs we switched to Easy Ups instead. They're easier to get on quickly.
