Hi Ladies, First of all I apologize if this has been asked recently... I never really paid attention to any posts about Clomid, until my doctor put me on it yesterday!
I have been diagnosed with "LPD" - luteal phase defect. I'm ovulating each month, but very late in my cycle (I've been getting AF 9-10 dpo) The doctor thinks that the Clomid will cause me to O earlier in my cycle.
I'm a little nervous because I know that Clomid can make your CM "hostile" or can thin your uterine walls... I hope that the benefits of Clomid can outweigh the negatives...
Today is my 2nd day of taking it, and I have a very upset tummy. What other side effects have you had?
Re: Clomid users, please come in...
I've had no side effects other then being crampier than usual during O. I haven't heard of an upset tummy. Maybe try a meal with the clomid?
I heard raspberry leaf tea can help the uterine lining. As for CM (I still had loads of it, it didn't affect me there) you can drink green tea and take evening primrose oil.
I hope your tummy feels better soon!
Hi Beaunal! I'm glad that someone is going through this at the same time!
Where in CA are you?
What dose are they starting you at? 50?
I was nervous to take it, but once I started, I saw it was no big deal. I guess I'm lucky not to have too many side effects.
I haven't had any really adverse reactions to it aside from insomnia (so I stopped taking it at night) and headaches (but only since going on 150mg, and they could be due to other factors too!).
Is your Dr. monitoring your cycle by u/s and bloodwork? Clomid can, like you said, thin your lining. As far as the CM goes, if you notice you're "dry", go to CVS and get some PreConceive- that should do the trick. But the other bigger concern with Clomid is OHSS (ovarian hyperstimulation) which is basically how Jon and Kate have +8, and which can also land you in the hospital.
I only took it for one cyle becasue it did not work for me. You should really be monitored with blood work and us. The first month I did take it I ovulated very early Cd 6 and it did thin my linning. When they monitored me with blood work the realized that i was O to early for clomid to work properley.
I felt very sick on it too. I was naseous, headache and had tons on Creamy CM.
Hope it works for you GL!
I took clomid for 4 months and the only notable side effect was hot flashes. It did help me O (I have PCOS), but still not very early and my LP was pretty short the first 3 months, like 9 or 10 days still. The 4th month, my doctor upped my dosage to 100mg and that seemed to help, although I still O'd pretty late.
Good luck!
The reason my Dr. put me on Clomid was to even out my cycles for they were anywhere from 23-33 days before Clomid now they have been around 26 days.
Good luck!
Wow, thank you everyone for your responses. I'm starting out on 50 mg, and we'll take it from there. Yesterday was CD 3 for me, so I will take it for 4 more days. My doctor didn't say anything about monitoring me, but maybe it's because of my specific problem (LPD). He wants me to continue charting and using OPKs to see if my luteal phase is any longer with Clomid.
You really should ask your Dr to give you an u/s and monitor you. You would be amazed at how many things can go wrong.
Good luck
