7 weeks postpartum problems:(

so when i delivered my boys i tore really bad upwards. my whole right side of my vaginal area is numb and i get this horrible pain in my clitorous when i go number 2 or my underwear has been against it, or sometimes randomly. it feels like someone is squeezng it as hard as they can. i think its some sort of nerve damage. my doctor said it should have went away by 6 weeks, now that its been 7 she told me sometimes it can take months. I'm so freaked out its going to be  like this forever:(:( did anyone else have this happen to them?

Re: 7 weeks postpartum problems:(

  • I had a c/s and they stuck me in my thighs w/morphine shots the first two days. One shot knicked a nerve and I STILL have damage there, where I can't feel my entire upper thigh. I'm hoping it goes away too.
  • I had a c-section, but the sensations you've described (numbness, pain from pressure) sound similar to what my c-section scar felt like for several weeks after delivery. ?It got MUCH better after a few months...in the beginning, it hurt to have any waistband (pants or underwear) put pressure on the scar and it I laid on my stomach it hurt as well...and that numbness drove me crazy. ?Now my girls are 3 1/2 months old and all of those sensations are pretty much gone.

  • I suffered a 4th degree laceration delivering my singleton - tore downwards.

It took a LOOOOOONG time for me to feel better.  At 7- 8 weeks out, I was still taking the big Advil pills every day.  My pain was more like feeling as if someone had punched me down there.

If you think it is getting worse, I would call your dr.

  • i had a 4th degree tear- front to back - and it was by far the most horrible thing i have ever been through.

i was still in pain until about 8w PP- and still now, 2 years later, have some issues down there that will require surgery to fix- but that is not going to happen for years (when my boys are all bigger and i can afford to be laid up in bed for 6 weeks).

i'm so sorry you are giong through this- it's horrible.  Give it a little more time. hopefully it will go away.... but if not by a couple more weeks- talk to your doc again... and get a 2nd opinion if needed. I feel ilke sometimes the OB who delivered you might be more apt to say it's not a problem- b/c they are responsible for it in a way.
