do yellow-edge pf's fit longer than KL0's?

the weight range for KL0's is 5-15lbs, and yellow edge pf's say 10-15lbs.  So can I count on my KL0's to fit at the same time as the pf's?  I'm trying to decide on how many pf's to buy.

  • We're still using our yellow edged pfs.  Had to stop using the KL0's around 3 months (about 12 lbs?).  They didn't really make it till 15 lbs - the rise would have been too small.  That said, our yellow edged were a bit big in the beginning, but I'm sure with more dedication than I had, you could make them work right away, or soon thereafter.

  • I think it's one of those things that totally depends on your baby (sorry...i know that doesn't help).  The small PFs were WAY too big for DD when she was smaller, yet the KL0s fit till she was 8 months (I know she's an extreme case).  She wasn't that small at birth either (7lbs 15oz), but just super thin.
  • We stopped using KL0's at around 6 weeks (12 lbs), but DS seems to have an insanely long rise.  Our yellow-edge PF's are still going strong and DS is probably about 14 lbs or more now.

  • yellow edge definitely fit longer than KL0. The KL0 gets to be too short fairly quickly. They also don't seem to absorb as much as a quality prefold, so by 2-3 months, you will notice the cover gets soaked when LO is in a KL0. Unless you have a baby with a really thick waist, I think the yellow edge will last you till about 6 mos. Of course you will need to fold it down infront for the first 2-3 months, but it is really no big deal. I wish we'd skipped the orange edge and just started out with yellow.

  • We still use our yellow edge's as backups.  They aren't roomy, but they work.  They are also good to lay inside a cover w/o using a snappi.
