It's gonna be a sucky month

James is working nights for 40 days straight.  It will be nice come pay day.  He will be working 8-12 hour shifts as needed.  He gets paid 1.5x after 8 hours, 1.5 for Saturdays and 2x for Sundays.  That's nice, but it's not really worth it to me.  It gets all screwy with the scheduling and trying to keep Tillman from waking Daddy up, etc., but mostly I just miss my husband.  Tonight is just the first night!  I miss having that time with him after Tillman goes to bed where we hang out and watch TV together and get some peace.  I especially miss having him in bed at night.  At least I get Sadie Brown Girl on the bed.

Anyway, I'm just feeling lonesome (yes, already), and I thought I'd pout about it.

TTC #2 for a million years: SA normal, CD 23 bloodwork shows nothing amiss, ovulation detected. Next step: ? maybe CD3 bloodwork to check eggs? All out of pocket, so limited IF tests/treatments.

  • wow that would be rough.   Is there any time during the day where you're both awake?   Like during T's nap time?

  • Aww pout away, that stinks!!  Hopefully it flies by and the extra moula makes it all worth it in the end!
  • I'm sorry! :( DH travels a lot for work so I know the feeling. He's gone about 2 nights a week. Starting in March he will be traveling to Alaska for a week at a time going about 8x a year. boooo!

    Do you get to see him at all or does he usually sleep as soon as he gets home?

  • I hope we'll get a little time to ourselves through this.  The difficult thing is that I have obligations and commitments during the day since James normally works during the day.  AND, Tillman is not napping very often anymore.  I still try to get him to, but I have found that to be another of those things you cannot MAKE them do (eat, go potty in the toilet and sleep).  Anyway, we are going to be fine and honestly when he does work things like this, we get a long a lot better because we miss each other.  It just sucks right now.

  • Aw, I'm sorry Emma!  Jeremy no longer works nights but I remember it being quite sucktastic when he did.  I hope the time goes quickly for you.  Maybe you can have a friend over now and then to keep you company?  When I'd get really lonely I'd have a friend or two over and we'd order in dinner, they'd play with the kiddo to give me a break, and we'd watch a girly movie after M was sleeping.

  • Oh sweetie....I so understand.  My DH works nights, period.  And he probably will for the rest of his career, so I know how it is, to be lonely at night :(  I *live* for the weekends when he gets to sleep with me at night.  I'm sorry you don't get at least that in the next 40 days. :(

    Hang in there, you will get used to it, even if you don't like it...and think of it as a break to get to hog the bed for a little bit :(

    Deb has a good idea, when I'm having a rough time, I invite my SILs or a good friend over and we have some girl time....

    :::hugs;:::

    Hang in there

  • I'm sorry :( I know what you mean. Eric is working 10-12 hours a day, 7 days a week until the baby is born, and I miss him terribly. On top of it, I can't do housework because of this ligament thing, so nothing is getting done. I'm going to pout a bit with you.
