Babies: 0 - 3 Months

WTF is wrong with people? ::vent::

okay, first the background - i have a family friend who had a baby about 9 months ago at 26 weeks.  the baby is fine now, but obviously had a lot of problems early on.

fast forward to this evening.  the baby's mom takes her dd to the pedi b/c she's been refusing food, even bottles and, get this, has LOST 7LBS!!!  WTF?  it gets better....so the pedi says he's NOT concerned with the weightloss or lack of apetite but more concerned with the baby's 'attitude' about being picked up every time she cries and that they should let her CIO, not rock her to sleep.

this baby was born 3 MONTHS premature so developmentally should still be seen as a 6 month old and he's NOT concerned about her weight loss.  IMO he should lose is liscence and they should get a new pedi ASAP.  it's so frusterating though b/c they just take everything he says in stride like "doctor knows best".  WTF?

sorry so long

  • Surely the parents noticed that the baby had lost weight. Seven pounds is a lot. Shouldn't the majority of the blame rest on their shoulders, and not the pedi's?

  • What an idiot! I would have walked out the door immediately. Someone needs to talk some sense into your friend. Losing 7 pounds is really concerning. I hope the baby is ok.

yes, it is, which is part of the frusteration, but they did call the pedi once b/c they *thought* she was losing weight from not eating.  but then the pedi doesn't seem concerned....that ridiculous even if the parents are stoopid.  i'm just concerned b/c SOMETHING has to be wrong and she had sooo many problems being born at 26 weeks.
