Mucous-y poop

Ok so, I know that one of the tell tale signs that a baby is not tollerating a formula or something in mom's bm is mucousy poop.  We started supplementing 2 feedings a day w/ formula (Similac Advance) a week ago. I thought it was going great, no fussiness, no gas, no poop issues until today...

In addition to popping 3 times today (quite a bit for her), in her last dirty diaper I noticed what I can only describe as looking like a big clear booger!  Is this what is meant by mucousy?

So confused.....TIA =)

Re: Mucous-y poop

  • Yes, that's exactly how I would describe it. A giant, stringy booger. But I thought mucus poop = virus?

  • Ok, glad I wasn't nutso with the booger reference!  Your link made me think tho...."geen" poop, how green is green?  I think her poop today had a greenish tint but I feel as though it has quite often in the past too, so maybe I am misinterpreting "green"

motherhood has made me ponder the wierdest things....le sigh

Oh and perhaps I was mistaken on the mucous = intolerance thing, here's hoping you are right.  Not that a virus is good but...well hopefully you see my point

  • I think by worrisome "green" they mean like grass green. Yellowish-green is normal.
