A friend of mine has an 8 wk old that she EBF. She has been trying for weeks to get her to take a bottle but with no luck.
Anyone have any tips for her??
Her DD eats almost every 2 hours and only sleeps a max of 3 hours at a time...I am hoping she gets her to take a bottle soon so she get some sleep!! TIA!?
Re: BF babies taking bottles
In my experience, if you don't start early enough, they won't just take to them--some might always refuse one.
Her baby is acting as an 8 week old should, though--eating every 2 hours and sleeping no more than 3 is what their bodies are designed to do.
I just gave some suggestions in the post below. Warm the bottle and nipple well, have your friend leave the house and let someone else give the bottle, try one when dc is really hungry, try different bottles / bipples.
I know! I was just hoping she would get to sleep a bit....we would all like a bit more sleep, wouldn't we?!
Thanks!?
We had to try 6 brands before we found a bottle DD would take. Same thing with the pacifier... can we say picky?? Tell her to try different bottles.
If she is the one trying to give the bottle, that could be the problem.
Also, my grandfather swears the trick is to hold the bottle so that your hand is touching their face... something about the skin to skin.
GL to her!
