At the Pedi today, we were told DD has labial adhesion. Did anyone else's DD have this? What course of treatment did your Pedi suggest and what did you decide to do?
we just brought ds to pediatric surgeon today to discuss ds's penile adhesion. It's an overgrowth of tissue which can sometimes be pulled back and fixed easily- other times need surgery. Unfortunately, ours needs surgery when ds is 8-12 months old. :-( the doc did say this is the easiest thing anyone can bring to a pediatric surgeon and the adhesion causes no pain to ds at all. I imagine a labial adhesion is something similar.
hmm, i never heard of this but just googled. i thought it was a condition that lo's are born with...i didn't know that you can prevent it. i will be extra careful now!
Our pedi told us it wasn't really preventable in DD's case. Her extra fat rolls on her thighs are pushing her outer lips too tight on the inner lips, creating the adhesion. What did you read to prevent it? I know there are cases where it can be caused by irritation, but she hasn't had a diaper rash since she was 5 days old.
My ped told us not to clean out all of the white 'stuff' in between the folds, and that that helps. Before I talked to him, I was keeping her what I thought was 'clean', but he said that's the body's natural way of preventing it. Not sure if that's the case for your DD, but just in case...

we were told the same about dd..she has it too and pedi said it is common and that it is fine and maybe in a couple months he'll give us an estrogen cream for it. he said it just must've been sticky and stuck together and it is nothing to worry about
