Preemies

contractions =(

So I went to the ER last night for severe cramping, to the point where I could barely walk. I was also, am still am, having alot of pressure and pain in the pelvic region. I was having some mild irregular contractions. I woke up this morning with the same thing, the cramping wasnt as bad as last night though. I went in to see my OB earlier this afternoon.

*I posted this on second trimester, not even realizing this board was here, so they suggested this board and im posting it here hoping i can get some advice*

The doctor says due to my symptoms and the other problem i have, previa and abruption, that im at high risk for delivering early. Im experiencing symptoms most women dont experience until much later in pregnancy. He is worried about that, and we have to keep an eye on it. I go to ultrasounds every 4 weeks, at two different places, one at my doctors office and the other is at a special high risk level 2 OB.

He says we are aiming to get to 7/8 months in the pregnancy without delivering. With the rate things are going, with all the problems, I might have to deliver my little Connor anytime between 28 to 32 weeks! Im scared!

If anyone else has had a premature baby, I would appreciate any advice or what I can expect! Im so lost and scared and dont really know what to do.

Re: contractions =(

  • i had jack at 27 weeks 6 days, and though he is still in the hospital ( i wasn't even due until the 26th of this month) he is doing awesome. it sucks, but i am very grateful he is alive and healthy, though premature. you just rest up and do whatever you can to keep your little boy in there but know that preemie medicine has come a long way! i'm so sorry you are goinjg through this

  • Obviously the longer you can stay pregnant the better. Are you on bed rest? Are you being monitored more now?

  • Thank you! yes im on bedrest, have been since 13 weeks. i have ultrasounds every 4 weeks at two different doctors, my regular ob and the high risk ob.....of course, i stay in bed and do the best for my little boy, but i am scared at what could happen.
  • Hi, I started contracting and having pelvic pressure at 26 weeks and was able to hold out till 33 weeks.  I really think what made me deliver at 33 weeks is that my doctor told me I didn't need to take it easy anymore.  So, my only suggestion is to stay off your feet, even if they take you off bed rest somewhere down the road.  Get lots of rest, and don't worry about the 'what-if's'.  Just watch lots of TV, read books, and keep thinking positively.  Give yourself credit for every day of bed rest because it's not easy, but you are doing really great!

    Good luck!

    Thank you! I have my bad days and good days...but since starting online classes, I guess that gives me something else to keep me busy.
