STD Frustration

Any one else have to work with the idiots at MetLife?

I was pulled from work at about 37 weeks due to PIH.  They told me it wouldn't impact my time off after the baby was born, 'cause I still need the same amount of time to recover from birth, regardless of how much time I was off before.

I called to report the birth as a cesearean, which should give me 8 weeks after delivery.  My rep called me today & left a message saying I'd been extended through February 15.  That's 8 weeks after I went on leave, NOT 8 weeks after Charlie was born.  I *should* be approved through February 24.

Of course, it takes 5 days to get ahold of anyone over there.  I have a direct line to someone, but I have to leave 4 messages before I get a call back, which of course, comes when I'm in the shower.

Re: STD Frustration

  • Do you know for sure that your STD covers 8 weeks for a c/s?  Mine only does if you physically not able to work and my ob had to call them to explain everything.  I still didn't get approved for 8 weeks.  It is becoming more standard to only 6 weeks of STD for a c/s.

  • i work worked with them--  i was always able to get someone but the case manager was always a call back within 24 hours- you had to ask for them to call back.  also I work for verizon and they only give 6 weeks for c section .  I went out of work 10 days before i had baby and was still given the 6 weeks after (even though nj dis pays 8 weeks c section - my company plan was only 6 )
