Hey ladies...
As a PPD Mama myself, aside from meds and counseling, what do you do to improve your battle against this?
I think that instead of battling eachother, we could use some of this to come together and help one another out...and I know that when my PPD is bad, it's always good to know who I can turn to.
Re: PPD Mamas
I come here - it's comforting to know there are others out there in the same situation I am (not that I'm glad others have it - it's just comforting to know I'm not alone or crazy for how I feel).
Yup. It's comforting to know that there are others (here). And when the topic is PPD, people are really supportive, at least in my experience.
Beyond that, I write. In a journal or on my blog. I'm a writer by trade, but it's honestly a really good way to get your feelings sorted out. When your thoughts are all up in your head, they're just very scrambled, and it's hard to feel in control of that. Writing things out has a way of making sense of it all.
If you're interested in journal writing but don't do much of it, check out the Artist's Way by Julia Cameron. Basically her idea is to write "morning pages" where you just write 3 pages of whatever comes out every morning. Tough to keep that habit going, but you'd be surprised by what you wrote if you did.
My silly Lily is almost 4.
I have a couple of methods:
1. I blog about DD for my extended family to read. It is difficult to keep up with everyone otherwise, and I have that place where I concentrate on teh positive side of motherhood.
2. I have a super private blog nobody knows about it.
3. Walking/excercising, etc. I try to do the shopping on my own to get me time.
