8 weeks pregnant, no sac, HCG fluctuating…what’s going on??

edited April 3 in 1st Trimester
If ANYONE could please shed light on my situation or has been in the same situation please help me out. I got a positive pregnancy test March 2nd. I went to the ER march 8th for some bleeding and slight cramps. I wasn’t filling up a pad or passing anything. At that time I was about 5 weeks….they took my hcg and it was pretty low. So after that my OB wanted to monitor my levels. My levels have been fluctuating so bad. My dr ruled out ectopic and ruled out a miscarriage. Not having any pain, cramps or anything. BUT around like 6 weeks they did a vaginal ultrasound and there was no sac or anything. Continued to monitor my levels. Still fluctuating. Did another vaginal ultrasound around March 31, 8 weeks and still nothing. My dr finally admitted he’s not sure what’s going on and he’s never had a patient like me. I do have pcos so I’m not sure if that’s affecting anything.

Has anyone with PCOS or a similar situation experienced this? What was the outcome?

hmm, that sounds really stressful, I'm sorry you’re going through this; I don’t have PCOS but I’ve heard it can definitely complicate things, so maybe just hang in there and keep talking to your doc!
Just looked it up on the 'Heal Baby Care App' and here’s what it says:

"I'm really sorry to hear about your situation; it sounds very stressful and uncertain. It's not uncommon for women with PCOS to experience irregularities in their pregnancy, including fluctuating hormone levels and ultrasounds that may not show typical results. While some women with PCOS have healthy pregnancies, others may face complications, so it's essential to continue monitoring your situation closely with your healthcare provider.
Have you had any further discussions with your doctor about potential next steps or additional tests that could provide more clarity?"

  • Thank you for the response! But they tried to offer me methotrexate. Which I don’t understand why if I’m not having an ectopic pregnancy. I declined and asked for more test. I did reach out to another OB but that appointment isn’t for another 2 weeks 😭 so I guess I just have to wait…
  • hmm, that sounds really stressful, I don't have PCOS but I've heard that some people have weird experiences with early pregnancies, so I hope you get some answers soon!

I actually checked the 'Heal Baby Care App' for this and here’s what it says:

"I'm really sorry to hear about your situation; it sounds very stressful and uncertain. It's not uncommon for women with PCOS to experience irregularities in hormone levels and early pregnancy complications. Since your doctor has ruled out ectopic pregnancy and miscarriage, it may be that your body is taking longer to develop the pregnancy, which can happen with PCOS.

It's important to continue monitoring your levels and follow your doctor's guidance. Have you been experiencing any other symptoms, or have there been any changes in your health since your last ultrasound?"
