1st Trimester

No energy and famished

I am 8w and cannot stop eating. I’m either nauseous or starving and permanently fatigue. I only want carbs. Is anyone else experiencing this?

Prior to becoming pregnant (this is my first) I was always go go go and extremely active working out hard 4-5x a week. I don’t even have the energy to go for a walk. They say it will get better in second trimester but I’m feeling discouraged and extremely tired. Anyone else feel this way?

Re: No energy and famished

  • Yes, very similar. I’m at 10 weeks now and it seems to have improved but only incrementally. I was in bad shape weeks 7-9 and I definitely felt discouraged. I had this vision of being able to take walks, cook dinner and overall maintain my usual routine but I can tell you that all of it went out the window. I haven’t been able to cook dinner in weeks, I can only take brief walks if I feel up to it and my current food aversion has last weeks and only just started to let up. Definitely harder than I anticipated and has made me feel guilty to those in my house who are used to depending on me. I’ve had to learn to slow down and let others step in. Not easy and very much looking forward to the second trimester. Hope that helps!
  • Yes, that helps! It’s reassuring to know I’m not the only one and that it’s normal. What I envisioned and this first trimester are complete opposites lol! Looking forward to when they say it will let up in a few weeks

  • I'm sorry you guys are going through this too, but it's comforting knowing I'm not alone! I'm 8w3d, and have had zero energy for the last week and a half. I'm also hungry at all times... if it wasn't for the nausea and throwing up, I think I would've gained 10 pounds by now. Can't wait for the fatigue to let up!
  • Hello! I’m the exact same, just over 8 weeks and drained!! I’m carrying a lot of guilt about it too, I was exercising almost every day before and did most of the cooking because I enjoy it but now I can’t get off the sofa after work, and all I eat is toast or ritz due to nausea. I’m so relieved other people feel the same! Bring on T2 and some energy. I’ve not given my husband any attention in weeks and feel bad about that too, he’s been great though - such an adjustment
  • Thank you everyone. Its kind of helpful to see that this is completely normal. I am 8w pregnant and I would prefer not to eat AT ALL, but the nausea makes me have something in every 2 hours. And the more I eat, the longer I feel it gives me normalness. Still. I only want freshhh foods and I am so grateful that I have a garden full of berries and fruits - living in northern Europe and its the one moment in a year that its happening!

But it makes me so sad that I cannot be there for others in my household as said before. A lot of takeouts and screens 😭

All the same time I know with the nausea that baby is growing and its for the good! Just would prefer to fast forward just a little tiny bit. 🙏
