I’m really interested in knowing peoples thoughts. Is the hatch really worth it? Or are there other (cheaper) options that perform just as well, if not better?
i was gifted a hatch and honestly love it! I like how I can control it super easy with my phone and how you can use it as an okay-to-wake clock as they get older. I started turning the light on shortly before I walked in the room when my son was young and now at 15 months old he knows that it’s not time to get out of the crib until the light is green. I am hoping to convince my husband to buy a second one for this baby
I really love my Hatch and think it's 100% worth it, but I plan to stick with the first generation Hatch Rest+ again (which is what I have for my daughter). The second generation requires a subscription, which I was extremely skeptical of and after doing research it seems like the new features are far from worth it (here's one review for reference, but there are also others and some reddit threads). I second everything @littlemarshmallow said, but also like having the audio monitor as a back up in case something happens to my regular video monitor (and we actually just used the audio monitor when baby was in our room in a bassinet).
I also really like the Yogasleep Hushh as a portable sound machine - we used it downstairs when she slept in her pack n' play bassinet, for stroller naps, and still use it for traveling. I've also heard people recommend bringing it (or something like it) to the hospital (though we didn't and she slept just fine in the hospital).
I love the Dohm white noise machine. I had one for each of my kids from birth, and they both still sleep with them. I like that it's an actual fan and not a artificial noise.
It was really important to my husband to have a sound machine/night light that synced with our baby monitor and phones- I honestly have no idea why and I originally had the hatch on our registry. We bought Nanit because it was a “complete system” even though it was more expensive, boys 🙄
we have we have a Nanit (I was able to get it with points) and I never use the sound or nightlight function, mainly because of how I would rather be able to touch a machine than have to constantly pull out my phone to turn it on and off. I did love the free trial of the Nanit features though! I plan on paying for a year subscription of Nanit insights when this baby arrives (I don’t feel it’s necessary after baby’s a year old personally)
@sbaby2023 We also have a Nanit, but I haven't used the sound or nightlight function. The hatch has so many great functions that I've liked having it separately (though as I said haven't tried any of the Nanit features like that). I pay for Nanit's subscription only because I wanted to give my mom access for when she babysits (I can't remember why but for some reason I felt like signing her in to my account was a hassle?). I don't find the insights to be very accurate though.
Wanted to share that someone told me that they have Hatch Rest+ (first generation) at Marhsall's and TJ Maxx on sale. My husband is at our local Marshall's seeing if he can find one (someone said they saw one there recently) and there are multiple videos on TikTok about it (though most are like a month old now so no guarantees they still have it). Weirdly, it seems like they are often in the beauty section rather than kids/babies.
I’ve heard good things about the Baby Shusher. Does anyone have experience in using this. And do you find it to be a replacement or a complement to a larger sound machine?
