Product Spotlight: Diaper Bags

FTM: have you picked out your diaper bag yet?
STM+: what bags have you used in the past? Pros/cons? What are your must haves ? Are you getting a new one for this baby?

Re: Product Spotlight: Diaper Bags

  • I have the Skip Hop Forma Diaper Bag and really like it - it's not super stylish or anything, but holds a lot and seems like good quality. I like that it comes with little pouches to organize things - though we use the ones from my husband's diaper bag more often.

My husbands HATES back packs so we got him a separate diaper bag that is a messenger bag - the Skip Hop Duo Weekender Diaper Bag. It's honestly too big for me to carry, but I LOVE it for travel because it holds so much and has a luggage sleeve on one slide so you can slip it over the handle of a roller bag suitcase. I also really like the organizers from his bag too (just two big ones, but we use one for diapers and associated supplies and the other for toys, which makes it easy to switch between his bag and mine).

Along these lines, I would love any recommendations people have for pumping bags. I just used a backpack from Target the first time around - it was super cute, but the zipper was really bad - and I'd love something a little more suited for pumping supplies this time around.  I did some searching a few months ago before I stopped pumping and really struggled to find something that I thought was big enough to hold my work computer and nursing/pumping supplies (and ideally room for a little more). I use the Ceres Chill to transport milk, so it's also really important to me that that can fit.

My hubby surprised me with a Kate Spade Diaper bag for Christmas. It looks to hold quite a bit and will hopefully meet our needs well as first time parents

  • We honestly just bought a diaper bag from Walmart, the typical backpack style. It was fine for us as a nursing mom! I liked having the change pad that was not attached to the bag as well as the insulated bottle holders for when we did bring breast milk places
  • My SIL gifted me one from a company called FEED. I absolutely loved it but after 2 kids and 8 years it is no longer functional. I went to go buy another and they don’t make them anymore 😢
  • I used a thirty-one zip top utility tote with my first, it’s been my favorite so far. This link is just what I came up with in a google search. Mine had stripes.

We were gifted a backpack we registered for with DS2, and I just don’t love it. It’s so thick and bulky. It holds everything and has insulated pockets and then more pockets, but it’s just not great. Two of my best friends have the same ones for babies born right before mine and right after. They both love theirs.

I love the Lily Jade Caroline leather backpack/purse/diaper bag I keep seeing come across my ads, but I know I’m just a sucker being advertising to and want to make sure my purchase intentions are pure before I invest in anything close to $100 ;P Amazon sells knock offs for less.

I’d like to get a new diaper bag for the next round, but I haven’t found the right one to pull the trigger on yet. I’d like to go back to the zip top utility tote idea, but the current prints aren’t my jam. I love the leather look, so I’ll probably end up somewhere down that route with a more messenger/large purse style.

I didn’t need a large pump bag with the Willow 3.0, but I was very happy with this gray one I ordered on Amazon. It was ideal for 4-8 hour trips like airplane rides and trips to the north shore when I needed to pump, but didn’t lots of storage. It could have used just a bit more space, but serves it purpose well enough that I won’t replace it on a whim.
