Covid vaccine

Hi everyone this is my first baby,
My doctor highly encouraged that I receive the Covid vaccine which I did not believe in at first but when it comes to my child I want the best. Did anyone get the Covid vaccine while pregnant and be fine? I’m just scared and hope I made the right decision for my baby…

Re: Covid vaccine

  • I got my second booster while pregnant and was totally fine. I'm also planning on getting the new bivalent booster next month.  I'm really glad that my baby will be able to come into this world with some antibodies.

I also got COVID in pregnancy (before the second booster) and firmly believe that any risks from getting COVID in pregnancy are much, much worse than any possible risks the vaccine could bring. When I had COVID and was reading about the higher chance of blood clots in the placenta and stillbirth, my only solace was knowing I had done everything I could to protect my baby by being vaccinated and boosted. My OBs have told me stories of unvaccinated pregnant women being on ventilators. Scary stuff!

  • I plan to get a booster while pregnant- in the next few weeks. I have several friends who have received covid vaccines while pregnant and their babies are all doing great!
I have an acquaintance who did not get vaccinated, got a pretty severe case of covid while pregnant, and her baby was born with pneumonia. When you are pregnant, your immune system is much weaker- you so not want to chance getting sick if you can avoid it, to protect both you and your baby.
If I were you, I would listen to your doctors and pass on immunity to your baby by getting vaccinated.

As others said, COVID vaccines are safe in pregnancy. However, getting COVID makes you much more likely to get blood clots in pregnancy...
  • Greater risk with getting covid and baby and you being impacted than with the vax. Just spoke to an MFM specialist who did a study over the past year in 18 different countries with other colleagues out of Oxford- he specializes in infectious diseases in pregnancy - having the covid shot reduced the risk of complications or death in both the mother and the baby by 53%, adding a booster jumped the number to 93%.
  • Were you vaccinated before getting pregnant?
