Product Spotlight: Pregnancy Pillows

Our Product Spotlight Series continues!

Each week we'll spotlight a new category of product. If you discover something new or are new to the board, you're welcome to comment on threads like these throughout your time here, not just when it's their week in the spotlight.

FTMs are encouraged to ask questions & STM/+s encouraged to share their knowledge based on experience. You can use any or all the prompts relevant to you below to share info in an easy-to-read format--or none of them. Pictures/screen grabs, if put in spoilers, are welcome! This week we're talking.... Pillows/Sleep Wear! (I also threw in some general questions about sleeping as it seems this sort of self-evaluation might be helpful in determining what you might want to purchase.)

Just wanted to throw this out there, too: TB has a "10 Best Pregnancy Pillows" post.

For all...

  • Are you a back/side/stomach sleeper? Have you adjusted the way you are lying yet/do you have concerns on having to make adjustments moving forward?
  • What products have been helping you sleep? (can be stuff that you've always used or stuff you've been using bc you're PG)
  • Have you made any adjustments to your pre-bedtime activities to help w/ getting a good night's sleep in? (& if any products are involved, let us know what they are!)
  • What concerns do you have about getting enough sleep now/moving forward?

For STM/STM+...

  • What type of pregnancy pillow would you recommend/worked for you? (inflatable, u-shaped, body, wedge?)
  • What brand pregnancy pillows would you recommend/worked for you?

Re: Product Spotlight: Pregnancy Pillows

    • Are you a back/side/stomach sleeper? Have you adjusted the way you are lying yet/do you have concerns on having to make adjustments moving forward? Side and stomach sleeper. Not adjusted yet, I’ll stop sleeping on my stomach in a few weeks when the uterus is growing out of the pelvis.
    • What products have been helping you sleep? (can be stuff that you've always used or stuff you've been using bc you're PG) A pillow and duvet? Lol. I haven’t had sleep issues since I was a kid, thankfully.
    • Have you made any adjustments to your pre-bedtime activities to help w/ getting a good night's sleep in? (& if any products are involved, let us know what they are!) Nope. Not that I could anyway, my pre-bedtime activity is putting my son to bed.
    • What concerns do you have about getting enough sleep now/moving forward? My son’s sleep issues! Nobody sleeps unless he sleeps. And he doesn’t. It’s a struggle.

    For STM/STM+...

    • What type of pregnancy pillow would you recommend/worked for you? (inflatable, u-shaped, body, wedge?) Never tried one. I did put a pillow between my legs at one point late in the pregnancy last time, that worked out pretty well. Pregnancy pillows seem gimmicky to me, anything to make us waste money, right?
    • What brand pregnancy pillows would you recommend/worked for you? None.

    • Are you a back/side/stomach sleeper? Have you adjusted the way you are lying yet/do you have concerns on having to make adjustments moving forward? I typically sleep on my side or back. Haven't made any adjustments yet, but when I start to get a bit of a baby bump I'll try sleeping only on my left side (this also helps with heartburn)
    • What products have been helping you sleep? (can be stuff that you've always used or stuff you've been using bc you're PG) None. Last pregnancy I did get some insomnia, I listened to sleep podcasts to help lol
    • Have you made any adjustments to your pre-bedtime activities to help w/ getting a good night's sleep in? (& if any products are involved, let us know what they are!) Nope
    • What concerns do you have about getting enough sleep now/moving forward? I'm sleeping fine now but not looking forward to those last couple of months of pregnancy when you just can't get comfortable and get up a million times to pee

    For STM/STM+...

    • What type of pregnancy pillow would you recommend/worked for you? (inflatable, u-shaped, body, wedge?) Honestly most pregnancy pillows feel suffocating to me. Last time I tried a regular body pillow (that I had pre-pregnancy) but all that extra pillow made me hot and claustrophobic. I ended up just using a couple small throw pillows and wedged them around me/put them between my legs. I also tried this Boppy side sleeper pillow (Boppy Side Sleeper Pregnancy Pillow with Removable Jersey Pillow Cover | Gray Falling Leaves | Compact, Stay-Put Design | Prenatal and Postnatal Positioning https://a.co/ihF4gOB) . I didn't love it for sleeping but did like it for extra support when lounging on the couch
    • What brand pregnancy pillows would you recommend/worked for you? none really. Use what you have 🤷‍♀️

  • @nsk489 I picked up the boppy pillow simply because a neighbor was selling it so I got it for $20. It's fine, but I wouldn't write home about it.

  • @acleverusername exactly! That's how I feel about most pregnancy pillows....if you can get a good deal on a secondhand one (like off facebook marketplace) go for it, but I wouldn't recommend dropping a lot of money on one
