1st Trimester

Ultrasound- small hemorrhage

Hello! My 6wk ultrasound showed a small subchorionic hemorrhage. I was told it isn’t a big deal and just to rest and continue on my meds (I’m on IVF meds including aspiring and Dalteparin/lovenox).  Anyone else have something similar? Can’t help but worry…

Re: Ultrasound- small hemorrhage

  • I was told the same thing at my 9 week ultrasound. I was also initially concerned, but they assured me that it's pretty common and that most of them spontaneously resolve on their own. (At least the small ones - not sure about larger hemorrhages.) I was told I might have some small spotting/bleeding because of it. My sister-in-law was told she had one at her first ultrasound, too, and she is now 22 weeks pregnant with a healthy baby. You're not alone :)
  • Thanks @knottie! This is our 3rd IVF and first pregnancy… I’ve been off work because of a cyst on my left foot that’s limiting my walking so when I was told to « rest », I was like, ´how much more? ‘. My IVF dr did say,
it is fairly small and I’m having another ultrasound on the 28th then my first obgyn appointment on April 7th.

  • @ming27 I've heard SCHs are more common with IVF pregnancies (not sure why). I had one as well but my OB never even mentioned it. I only found out looking at my ultrasound report. I never had any bleeding from it anyway so wasn't a problem for me.

  • @inthewoods23, I’m also on a bunch of blood thinners and only had very little spotting and it’s been a while. I was thinking it was the other embryo that didn’t take. Thanks for the info
