I'll kick this off...the rando covid question inspired me...
UO, but we won't be requiring a covid vax/boosters to see baby. Since vaccinated can spread too, I don't see the point in having the distinction, plus most of our family (and us) is at least baseline vaccinated if not boosted anyway so it's a moot point. I would hope everyone who visits has the common courtesy to stay home if they have any cold symptoms or known exposures, which is way more important to me than the vax (which our family is more than happy to do). However, we absolutely do require TDAP. Which thankfully, everyone has since they got their booster with DD! There were some cases (3 ish cases I think) of whooping cough in daycare maybe 2 years ago, so I'm very much concerned with that risk-its not that "rare" anymore unfortunately.
@pajamstagrams 10000% with you, on all of that. I have some friends who have cut unvaccinated family/friends out of their lives and I can’t imagine doing something that extreme, but to each their own I guess.
Also I have no idea why I responded to that random when I usually ignore them 🤦🏼♀️
UO: I dislike morning radio talk shows. Like, won’t listen to them. I would rather listen to nothing at all than listen to them laughing at each other the whole time when they’re not even that funny. I was just thinking about this because one of the local radio stations changed ownership and they got rid of the Elvis Duran show and the local mom group is shockingly full of people lamenting that it’s gone
@happynapper this is why only listen to streaming radio like Pandora or XM radio. The stations I listen to (aka not pop music) don't have talk shows, blessedly.
@pajamstagrams not a UO over here 😂 I definitely feel the same way! Our family is a mix of vaccinated and not, and we’ve got a ton with a crap load of natural immunity. When DS was born (4/2020) we did ask for people to wear masks even without symptoms because we didn’t know anything about it at that point, but honestly I agree, you just shouldn’t be a douche and show up to meet a brand new baby with any signs of illness in general. Only thing is I’m not asking people to get tDap again, either since they don’t really need it again (everyone got a 7 year booster before DD1 was born so they’re all still within the time frame from that one). But I totally get asking for that one! We passed around RSV recently and that was bad enough…pertussis can GTFO.
@skc040512 yeah there are so many other viruses I'm worried about...we won't pull DD from daycare at all because I need my sanity, and that's a risk we'll accept, but I do worry about all the crap that will go around in a couple months because my SIL is due next month and I'm worried we're all gonna be sick from daycare and constantly exposing her baby as well, (unintentionally of course) 😩
We won't require masks, we will (and have) just generally ask people not to kiss baby until they're a bit older. And we do limit "pass the baby" scenarios. We were incredibly strict with DD because she was immunocompromised for a while, and man, that was a fantastic excuse to not let everyone hold her during holidays. Definitely don't want to *have* to be that strict again, but absolutely love keeping baby more to ourselves, especially from an overstimulation perspective.
How I feel about letting people visit (especially unvaxxed) and the circumstances of their visit will depend on how delivery goes tbh. 2 of my brothers and their families aren't and I can't imagine telling them they can't meet my babies until x date. But if the babies are born early or something I will. DH and I haven't really spoken about it. But we are pretty strict about precautions these days so who knows. It's also a great excuse to keep MIL away "Sorry! No visitors! Covid! Ugh so disappointing!"

@jackdetroit yea I might change my thoughts on visitors if they were premies for sure.
My thankfulness today is for our warm (mostly- lol old homes), cozy home on this SNOWY day! Snow is so rare here and I’ve loved staring out my office window at it.
