  • @minnie_yoga_mama I have a friend who is a flight attendant and has had 2 beautiful healthy babies. Hopefully that's enough reassurance!  :)

    Upcoming Appointments:
I meet with our MFM specialist on 9/29 to discuss progesterone suppostories vs weekly injections to decrease my chances of a second preemie.

    How are you feeling?:
Ugh, so relieved. Up to the second before our US yesterday I was so (completely irrationally) worried that this whole thing was in my head. Never mind all my symptoms and the fact that I haven’t had a period in two months. I cried when we heard the heartbeat!

    Rants/Raves:
I had the presence of mind yesterday to record the entire US (DH and DD6 were waiting for me in the car outside and I wanted them to see it). We didn’t do it for any of DD6’s US or Doppler checks and I so wish we had. Now I watch the video every ten minutes. We took DD6 to the beach and gave her a “Big Sis” shirt and a little necklace  I had had made for her. She was ecstatic: She’s been asking for a sibling for the longest time, and now she is listing all the things she’s going to teach them. I’m nervous about seeing the specialist even though I know her already from work. Would love to not have another preemie but definitely dread the “high risk” label.

    Questions:

  • @minnie_yoga_mama DH and I did multiple flights during my entire pregnancy— short ones, all under an hour, but maybe 8 total? And everything turned out fine. I’ve never heard anything about risks of exposure. I have friends who are transport nurses that routinely fly between islands for work, and my friend’s husband is a flight attendant and they take a lot of flights together, they’re all okay.

  • Thanks everyone for the flight reassurances! Sometimes it just feels good to know others have done the same and turned out perfectly fine! 🙂 FTM worries 😅

  • @minnie_yoga_mama for your sanity, I strongly recommend reading Expecting Better sooner than later. <3

  • @doxiemoxie212 I just came up on the list for the copy at our library today and I’m super stoked to read it!
  • @miss_lynn9 First tri, sick child, moving, and ramping up new job? Any one of those on its own is a major stressor and exhausting. I hope you can get some help or are able to scale back a bit.

@fameonmain2 so sorry about your appointment stress and migraine. Migraines are awful. Everyone’s stress relief is a little different, but maybe something like an appointment day ritual you can look forward to will help.
    fameonmain2aloha_mama
  • @loveanddatadriven, I officially don’t have any restrictions. The doc did make a face when I told her about my refined sugar intake, so I have stopped that. Once I get the glucose screen results we shall see if they put me on a stricter diet. I would assume limited whole grains would be fine.

Whoops posted in the wrong check in week!

Est Due Date / Weeks + Days: 9+3

    FTM/STM/TTM+: TTM

Upcoming Appointments: NIPT blood next week

How are you feeling?: So nauseas still- when will it end?!?! Down 5 pounds but that’s my norm for first tri.

Rants/Raves: D6 is playing softball this year and she has a game at 4:50pm on Sunday. I mean, come on.

Questions: If anyone here has babies of different sexes- did you notice your symptoms being any different with one vs the other? Any difference in MS, heart-rate, etc?

  • Congrats on the new job @monstera13

@Ivorytower2 I have the same question about different pregnancy symptoms vs sex of the baby. I've been much less nauseous this time around  and it hit much earlier but not sure if that means anything.
    monstera13Ivorytower2
  • @Blondesweety444 I can’t remember, do you already have a girl? I have two girls. I had MS with both of them, but it seems to be progressively worse with each baby with this current one being the worst yet (I don’t know the sex yet though).

How are you feeling?: So nauseas still- when will it end?!?! Down 5 pounds but that’s my norm for first tri.

Rants/Raves: DS6 is playing softball this year and she has a game at 4:50pm on Sunday. I mean, come on.

Questions: If anyone here has babies of different sexes- did you notice your symptoms being any different with one vs the other? Any difference in MS, heart-rate, etc?
Well now that I know I'm having a boy - effing YES! lol I had ZERO symptoms with DD3 but I feel like hot garbage this pregnancy with this boy. My skin is worse, I have nausea, I'm exhausted. With DD3 my skin was the best it's ever been, I had no nausea, not more tired than usual, etc. Sigh. lol

Heart rate was the same ish, though - I think that's been proven in a lot of studies to really not have anything to do with sex.

  • @Ivorytower2 I have one son, this is my second pregnancy.

@doxiemoxie212 very very interesting! Makes me so interested to find out what I'm having. I've been thinking boy, but the symptoms are a lot better this time than with DS5 so wonder if it could be a girl!  :)
    Ivorytower2
  • @doxiemoxie212 so interesting! So in your case you feel much worse with the boy pregnancy!
  • @Ivorytower2 yeah they don't actually know definitively what causes morning sickness in pregnancy, so it could be that different hormones trigger it for different people. So maybe it's the presence of testosterone for me. I never had any nausea or anything on birth control pills, and I generally feel better the higher my estrogen is.

But it could also just be that it's my second pregnancy, I'm older, and my body is less able to power through.

  • Est Due Date / Weeks + Days:
    April 18th/ 9wk 1 day

    FTM/STM/TTM+: STM

Upcoming Appointments: I had my first ultrasound today and do my testing in 3 weeks

How are you feeling?: So nauseous

Rants/Raves: At my appointment they said "you didn't do a pap last year so we'll do it today" so feel like crap and then that fun event.
Have to do a 24 hour urine collection to get a baseline of protein. Hoping to avoid pre-eclampsia this time.

    Questions: NATM
    minnie_yoga_mamamonstera13
  • @Ivorytower2 With both my boys I had MS but nothing to write home about. With my girl, I had horrible MS, not HG or anything, but just really bad nausea all day. I am experiencing the same with this one so its got me wondering.... @doxiemoxie212 thats an interesting connection between the birth control/estrogen. I felt like ass on hormonal birth control. Now I wonder even more if its a girl!

@monstera13 awesome about the new job!

Est Due Date / Weeks + Days: April 29/ 8 weeks

    FTM/STM/TTM+: TTM

Upcoming Appointments: Monday!! Only online though.

How are you feeling?: A bit like booty. I'm either nauseous or disgustingly full. I'm havign a hard time deciding what is going to taste good. I feel gross when I don't eat often enough, I start to get a headache.

Rants/Raves: Rave: we got an applicant for the paraprofessional job working with math services, so I might get an extra helper! And I'm almost done iwth diagnostic testing at school! Rant: meh.

Questions: I don't remember-has everyone's experience with the ultrasound been that H can't come? I'll ask on Monday at my appt but just wondering what's been normal or if there even is a normal. I'm expecting that he can't come.

    hoosiermamajaydenmonstera13Ivorytower2aloha_mama
  • @SmashJam my husband was able to come.
  • @SmashJam Mine couldn’t come. 😔
  • @SmashJam my husband is allowed at any appointment including ultrasounds, but we're also highly vaccinated here with overall low case numbers. I have a lot of friends in other parts of the country who could not have their husbands come.
  • @SmashJam, my husband and under 2 daughter was able to come with me.

  • @SmashJam Hubby wasn’t able to come. 😔 We live in Florida. Not sure if that’ll change anytime soon for our next one scheduled for 20 weeks
  • @SmashJam H was allowed to come. We’re in KY where covid is blowing up right now.
  • @minnie_yoga_mama I flew very early in my first tri with my son (and a couple more times before third tri) and he is totally fine.

Est Due Date / Weeks + Days: 4/23 but from what I’ve read I will deliver on or before 36+6 so like 4/1 / 9w today

    FTM/STM/TTM+: STM

Upcoming Appointments: First appt with my regular OB this coming Thursday.

How are you feeling?: Tired. I’m luckily not sick all the time but evening does make me feel gross.

Rants/Raves: I keep crying what feels like all the time at the most random things. Ugh. I feel crappy today and it’s not nice outside. I may go out and do an errand by myself to try to get out of my funk.

Questions: Has anyone successfully explained siblings to your first child? I mention the babies and he says “no” or tells me they are kittens…
    loveanddatadrivenminnie_yoga_mamaaloha_mama
  • @zamoraspin2 DD3 definitely understood immediately, but she's 3 so we didn't have to do much explaining or anything. I think she would've understood at 2.5 but not before then. Have you gotten any books about babies? There are some good ones for young kids.
    loveanddatadriven
  • @zamoraspin2 I don’t think DD2 quite gets that a baby will be joining our family. I told her I have a baby in my belly, and she says she has one in her belly, too… I also don’t look pregnant yet, so that doesn’t help her comprehension.

On the flip side, she loves her cousin and understands he is a baby. She diapers and feeds her stuffed animals. She pushes them around in a baby stroller.

I’ll be watching this thread for any toddler book recommendations to prepare siblings!
