If you are a contributing member who has been active here for a full 3 months with a BFP this week, CONGRATULATIONS! Please share your success with us here.
How do you know if you're a contributing member?
1. Ask your heart if you have contributed positively here. 2. Do these people know you? Will they be happy about your pregnancy? 3. Have you offered support to others or have you just blasted your own info out there? 4. We ask that you only post here if you have been participating meaningfully here for at least three months.Sometimes the silence is kindest. Those of us who lurk BMBs will see your intro and PM/comment/love tit. 5. CD/DPO of first BFP?
How many months/cycles had you been TTC?
How long have you been an active participant on the TTGP board? (minimum: 3 full months)
What did your chart look like?
What were you doing TGKU?
How was your timing? What symptoms did you have, if any? (CS & CD breakdowns welcome)
(I was really hoping that someone else would be posting here first. Alas, here goes.)
First of all, can I just say HOLY SH*T?! WHAT AM I EVEN DOING HERE?!?!
CD/DPO of first BFP? 14DPO (yesterday afternoon). So, after all the grandstanding in the IF thread yesterday, I was considering purchasing a beta from WalkInLabs to go and do today. Then I was like... "WTF am I doing here? I should just take a pee test, and if it's positive, call my clinic and get a test there." And then I also realized that I had like 20 cheapies left over from when I was testing out my triggers + hcG microdosing. So that's what I did. Today my beta was 42mIU/mL, and my P4 was 25.54ng/mL. I go back on Monday for a repeat.
How many months/cycles had you been TTC? 19 months; 17 cycles which excludes the IVF-related cycles we've done.
How long have you been an active participant on the TTGP board? (minimum: 3 full months) From June 2020-September 2021 (16 months?)
What did your chart look like? Take this with a grain of salt; I don't temp so I've extracted these as best as I could from my Oura ring readings, which only gives me delta from the baseline. So, I assigned 97.5 as my baselines, and entered the temps based on that. So, if in the morning Oura said +0.5, I entered 98.0.
What were you doing TGKU? Good LAAAAAAWWWWRD. What wasn't I doing? You can see the detailed cycle-by-cycle history in my signature if you have that enabled. But... here goes:
Summary of cycles: natural and fertility treatments:
TTC naturally Feb 2020-Aug 2020
Medicated cycles with or without IUIs Sep 2020-March 2021 (including 1 cycles where I ovulated 4 eggs and we did 2 inseminations!!!) -- all of these were out of pocket
In April, my company announced they'd be offering fertility benefits. This was excellent because by that point, we'd decided that we're headed to IVF.
In May, it was all about finding a new fertility clinic that accepted my insurance, and also getting a cycle delayed because I needed to get a genetic cancer screen done to make sure I didn't have the same gene mutation as MH.
In June, after 9 days of stims, cancelled our first IVF cycle
In July, we did a successful IVF cycle that yielded us 2 normal embryos, and 1 low-level mosaic
August was our "break" month, before doing another IVF cycle in September. I was on vacation (solo) for 16 days, galavanting about, drinking and partying like I shouldn't have. I knew that it was gonna be my last month of fun, as we had planned to do another retrieval in Sep, and head straight into mock-transfer/transfer in Oct/Nov/Dec.
Of course, I didn't want to waste a cycle so we DTD on all the right days apparently.
Work with functional medicine doctor:
In Jun 2021, I also started working with a functional medicine doctor because I have Hashimoto's thyroiditis and wanted to get my TPO antibodies under control. I did a 21-day elimination diet, stool, blood and saliva testing with her, and then started food reintroductions. Throughout, I was also taking supplements to help with the liver cleanse. After the results were in, I was put on a bunch of supplements & herbs to improve the function of my HPA axis. I also connected with our resident stalking acupuncturist / herbalist (@lickastick) who specializes in thyroid issues as it relates to pregnancy (with deep knowledge of IVF) and she gave me a whole bunch more advice: more supplements / vitamins + eliminating scented products (which wasn't that difficult).
At this time last week, I was taking 2 handful of vitamins / supplements 3x a day, which – while it seems like a lot – wasn't because that list grew organically, so by the time I needed to add a couple more, I was already used to the previous amount. And I had a good organizer for all my pills.
Bottom line, I don't know if the IVF cycle gave my fertility a kick in the ass, or if it's the work with functional medicine, or both (likely both), I am feeling incredibly grateful / lucky.
How was your timing? What symptoms did you have, if any? (CS & CD breakdowns welcome)
-3, -1, O. According to FF, our timing was "High"
Very few symptoms really
On CD9, I was exhausted... ended up crawling into bed at 8pm. But I usually go to bed at 9, so it's not out of the ordinary. Next day, I was fine.
On CD12, I had really bad diarrhea right before bedtime. I didn't think much of it because I think I ate some gluten over the weekend.
I had a few days of spotting last week, CD 8-9; and then on Tuesday (CD12), I had a spot of bright red on TP, so I was convinced AF was coming.
Perhaps the weirdest things I felt was extremely energetic over the weekend. I just remember taking my dog for a walk, and just having a spring in my step. I was feeling GOOD.
And then on Monday (CD12), I did an all-hands presentation and I remember looking at my video and thinking "man, my skin is glowing!"
Oh, and for the last week or so, I've had that feeling like I'm passing EWCM... but I haven't been on progesterone supplements, so I was wondering if that's maybe rising estrogen.
How are you going to/did you tell your partner? I still managed to surprise MH! The full story of how I told him:
Oh man, since we've been doing fertility treatments for so long, I have basically decided that this is not something I'll ever surprise MH with, since he's intimately aware of our schedule. Even this cycle, our minds were already on the next egg retrieval, and I was expanding all my energy trying to figure out logistics of getting eggs that I had frozen 2 years ago in Canada (before I was even engaged to MH), to my new clinic in California. So, he didn't realize it's been two weeks, which gave me exactly 3 hours yesterday... from when I found out... to when I told him, to plan a surprise and I think I did pretty well!
He had purchased a Pepper Cannon which arrived earlier this week in a perfectly sized box. So, I went and dug it out of recycling. Then, earlier yesterday morning, I had to confess to MH just how much our take out sushi had cost on Sunday (I am embarrassed to say), and HE WAS NOT PLEASED. But like, I really wanted sushi on Sunday, and we were having some wine, and well... I went over board. And also, back in Feb, my favorite 2nd hand clothing store was closing so I bough a whole bunch of baby stuff (most of them new). They were just collecting dust in my closed. One of the items was a onesie with the words "Hello World" on it, which – if you know anything about software engineering – is the first thing you learn to program (a program that prints on the screen the statement "Hello, world!") Anyways, I put the onesie in the box, and then I wrote up 2 pieces of paper. The first one, said "I'm really sorry that I spent $$$ on sushi...." ... then I put some crepe paper (also dug up from recycling bin since my DHEA supplements arrived earlier in the week, wrapped like a Victoria's Secret lingerie set), and on the second piece, underneath, wrote "but it looks like it's the last sushi I'll have had in a while..." Then I included the 2 pregnancy tests I had taken, along with instructions on how to read them. LOL.
Anyways, when he first unwrapped the box, I thought that I bought him another Pepper Cannon! Lol. We do that sometimes... think about the same thing we want. He was ready to set it aside, and was already trying to think who we can regift it too. But then he's like... "Why isn't this one wrapped in plastic? Mine was wrapped in plastic." So then he knew to open it and saw everything. LOL. And what ensued was a very awkward period of time. We're both like "I don't know how to feel! I don't know how to act/react!"
We'd spent so many cycles in anticipation of this moment, that we had exhausted our excitement reserve. But it's coming back to us now!
Anything else to add? Oh man, where do I start. Words alone cannot describe how much support I've gotten from this group. I remember joining in June 2020 on my 5th TTC cycles, excited to find a group to whom I could lament the struggles of getting through each day of TWW (I was really into the structure of this board; I knew exactly where to post what!) Over the course of the next few months, I started dipping my toes into the IF thread as we started consulting with REs, did our testing and then started treatments. I still remember the warm welcome I received in the IF thread "Welcome to the most supportive corner of TB!" they said! And it did in fact prove to be that.
We talk a lot about stress/anxiety management during TTC. For me, it became being engaged in this community. Learning from others. And passing my knowledge on to others, whether learned here or elsewhere (i.e. TEW!) And, I have to admit, reading scientific papers also became oddly therapeutic for me.
As the months progressed, and we experienced the ups and downs of treatment ("H's TMC suuuucked!" "IUI was cancelled due to sh*t lining!" "I have 4 follicles! Triggering tonight!" "Negative HPT" "Negative Beta" "Low Progesterone" "THE RE/CLINIC EFFED UP!!!" "WE HAVE 3 EUPLOID EMBRYOS!!!!!!") you guys were here for me each half-step of the way. And I was so happy to be here for those who've now moved on, and I will continue to lurk and support those who remain fighting the good fight. I have no doubt that all of us will have our THBs, one was or another. I want to end with quoting my favorite TEW quote: "You're going to be a mother, one way or another."
@acleverusername this is beyond amazing. I am so happy for you! I love love love how you told YH! But the most important question I have is, have you told TEW yet???
@acleverusername haha yessss!!! Congrats girl! So happy for you!!! I love the instructions you gave YH for reading the tests 🤣. Silly men!
And like @bows22 I must know!! Have you told TEW?!?!?
Also, what about your eggs? Are they in transit right now? 😆

History
I am doing this on my own. Left ovary and fallopian tube removed due to cyst/necrosis just after birth. Right ovary and tube still purport to function.
Began TTC in Aug '18 @ age 35
5 or 6 (or 7?!) cycles using frozen donor sperm, ICI. All BFN
Mar-Jun '19 IUIs, all BFN
Began process of referral for RE in spring of '19, blood tests confirm low AMH (.54) but all else is good.
May '19 HSG shows open tube, but ultrasound suggests fibroids
MRI in June '19 confirms two large fibroids, one growing through wall of uterus
In June '19 I move from California to Oregon, disrupting my insurance, referrals, etc. 5 months spent piecing it all back together.
Nov. '19 attempted myomectomy (vaginal approach) failed. 2nd surgery using laparoscopic method in Jan '20 is successful.
April '20 --> June '20, natural IUIs, all BFN.
July? saline ultrasound and bubble test demonstrate open tube
July '20 clomid cycle cancelled for thin lining
Aug-Oct, 3 femara cycles, all BFN
RE referral. While waiting to set up an appointment Nov-Jan,I continue with natural cycles and ICI, using a known donor, BFN...
Jan '21 more bloodwork, AMH is worse (.30), FSH high albeit not catastrophic at 13.2. hysteroscopy all good. "looks cozy!" says the RE.
Feb '21, injectables (menopur, novarel), iui, BFN (doc said the frozen donor sperm sample had the "best numbers she'd ever seen!")
Mar '21, injectables, iui cancelled due to lack of follicles, converted to at home-insem. BFN
May '21, first IVF round cancelled due to cyst.
July '21 IVF: standard antagonist. 225menupur/225gonal-f/cetrotide/5000u trigger, AFC 7; 6 days of stims. 8 eggs retrieved, 7 mature, 5 fertilize, 4 made it to blast. 3 are 4AB, 1 is 4BB. PGT-A results all abnormal. Oct '21 somewhat improved AMH (.51) and significantly improved FSH (8.9). Maybe it's all the pills I swallow. Dec -21, standard antagonist. 225menupur/225gonal-f/cetrotide/5000u trigger, AFC 5; 11 days of stims. retrieval yields 5, 4M, 2 reach day-6 blast (4AB & 4BB). 1 low-level mosaic (chr. 3 deletion), 1 complex abnormal. Feb '22 FET (low-level mosaic): CP. May '22 egg retrieval, lupron flare protocol. HGH priming for 1 month before stims; md lupron 20/20u daily; menopur 225, follistim 225, 10k trigger after 8 days of stims; AFC 10; 13 retrieved; 10 mature; 8 fertilized. All frozen at 2PN for later thaw, grow, and biopsy. July '22 egg retrieval same protocol: 9 days of stims; AFC 8; 10 retrieved, 8 mature, 4 fertilized and frozen. Sept '22 ER same protocol: AFC 10; 12 retrieved, 11 mature, 11 fertilized. From the 3 retrievals, 7 survived to day 5-6 blastocyst, from which I have 2 normal embryos! FET scheduled for Jan 20. Fully medicated, baby aspirin, dexamethasone, acupuncture, and as much woo as I can stand (which isn't very much). BFN.
@acleverusername Congratulations! I am so happy for you! I wish you a safe and easy 9 months!

I had a sneaking feeling too. Congrats! Hoping the next 9 months is equal parts boring and joyful. I am going to miss you on IF, my fellow left-brained spreadsheet-maker.
@acleverusername OMG Congratulations! I'm crying over here reading your whole post and subsequent love posts from everyone else! I am new here so don't know everyone all that well yet but I am SO very excited for you! Make sure you pop in and send us some updates 🥰
@acleverusername ahhhh!!! Your post made me cry in my car on my lunch break! But it was worth it! I’m so so so happy for you! The IF board will miss the most organized bumper there was, but for good reason of course! I felt the same way after my bfp, like what could have possibly changed to kick my body into action? but alas we’re here! Also, loved your way of telling dh! So happy for you. Wishing you the most boring, healthy 9 months!
@acleverusername OF COURSE you’d be the special unicorn to get KU naturally in between all the IF stuff!
I mean this in the most affectionate way possible: your grad post gives BusinessWife’s post some competition for longest most detailed grad post ever.🏆😄🎖 I am truly happy for you, especially after all you’ve put into this process. As others have said, you’ve been a wealth of support and information during your time in TTGP. I loved having someone else just as committed to the research and supplements as I to analyze everything with.😊 You will be sorely missed, but I wish you the happiest healthiest 9 months!
It is indeed bittersweet to send you off to your BMB. May is so lucky to have you!💗
@acleverusername OMG!!!!! Yessss girl!!! You have no idea how happy I am to see your name here. Im sooooooo happy for you!!! Congratulations ❤❤❤ I'm wishing you the best and easiest pregnancy ever.
First of all, let me just say at how beautiful you’ve all made me feel in the last few days. Your messages are a testament of the support this community has to offer.
Alas, I’ve got good news/bad news.
Bad news: I’m gonna be back in a few days as will my long, rambling, and ofttimes irrelevant posts.
Good news: You’re gonna get at least a few more months of my sharing my wealth of knowledge with you; and all you left-brainers, you get your research-obsessed, spreadsheet making, doctor-double-checking buddy back!
You can all read between the lines.
I have a small request to make: no need to post sympathies in this thread; I want to preserve its beauty just I’ll preserve the beauty of having gotten the farthest I’ve gotten in this blasted “Chutes and Ladders: TTC Edition” game.

@acleverusername congratulations!! I am so excited for you.
