I didn't use a pregnancy pillow until the end of the second tri, but I used the boppy wedge pillow I liked that was small and easy to position and didn't take up a massive amount of space. you can kind of "wedge" it under the bump or lower back. When I would wake in the middle of the night I could easily reposition myself and the pillow. Also the slip cover was easy to remove and wash.
As far as sleep recommendations, I love a good white noise machine and I know this was discussed some in the maternity clothing thread, but a soft sleep bra helped/helps me. I like the ones that are the crossover style like this
TTC#1 10/2016 TTC/IF:included medicated cycles, IUIs and 2 rounds of IVF with 1 embryo each. BFP finally in 12/2018
TTC#2 06/2021 planning FET

I’m looking forward to the responses on this one! I’ve been going back and forth between these two pillow shapes and trying to decide which one will be comfier! I experienced terrible SI joint dysfunction before becoming pregnant so having a pillow that comes between my legs and aligns my hips is a must.
I’ve so been looking forward to this! Hubby— not so much. He says the pillow will “replace” him and I’ll always cuddle the pillow instead of him. 🤣 Any other partners with pillow jealousy??
I got one that was literally called The Husband Pillow! It's more a lounge pillow than a pregnancy pillow, but I had the most ridiculous heartburn last time around and had to be super upright to sleep. I like it though because we still use it for a comfy floor pillow for movies and reading and everything.
Snoogle all the way. Third pregnancy going strong! Putting the pillow cover is a b*tch but no complaints other than that. My husband complains that it puts a physical barrier between us, but I don’t care haha!

@minnie_yoga_mama I have the snoogle (the s shaped one) and I wish I got the U shaped one so I can lean forward or backwards. In my third trimester I would put it through my thighs and have it support under my belly which was so nice. I did have to put another pillow between my ankles because only having something between my thighs made me hurt, I don't remember where but the second pillow fixed it 🤣
@minnie_yoga_mama I had a big U-shaped one last time too and loved it. Made finding a semi comfortable sleep position much easier. Had trouble giving it up postpartum - think I kept using it for at least 3mos 😂
@schlecks good to know that it's no problem in a king-sized bed! I was a little worried about how much space it would take up in our bed, but luckily we have a king. I'll be ordering that soon!
I had the snoogle but the head part went flat too easily and made my neck hurt and adding my normal pillow on top was too much pillow. I do love the front and back support though. I think I'm going to do 2 normal body pillows and see how it goes.
I felt far too claustrophobic with a pregnancy pillow, so I used a standard bed pillow between my knees (side sleeper) and another wedged under my belly when I got into the third trimester last time. This go around I think I'd like a wedge pillow like @Avrilmai mentioned above!
Reviving this thread because I haven’t made a decision on a pillow yet but I want to soon! I’m kind of a fussy sleeper and I love love love my pillow so was looking for something where I can still use my own pillow. Does this exist???!
@doxiemoxie212 Thanks! The review I read on that one said it was annoying because if you want to go to the other side you have to sit up and reposition the whole thing. Do you know if that’s true?
For a while I was just using a small throw pillow from the couch between my knees, but within the last week I started waking up multiple times a night with some serious hip and lower back pain. I switched to a larger pillow between my legs (a king size pillow that had been buried in a closet), which helped a lot with the pain, but I’m still waking up frequently.
I like the idea of a U shaped pillow because I keep rolling slightly toward my back from my side, but I get so hot at night that I’m afraid being completely surrounded by pillow will make me even hotter. Plus we have a queen size bed, not a king, and even with just the pillow I’m using now, I feel like I’m crowding my husband to the edge of the bed.
