Interesting Baby Fact/Baby is the size of: a clownfish

    Upcoming appointments: Not until April

How are you feeling?: Fine, but in the evenings I still often feel blah. It's not nausea exactly... I can't really explain it, other than I don't have an appetite, and just don't feel well and don't want to do anything other than lay around uncomfortably. It's a relatively minor annoyance. Also lots of stretching and expanding feelings happening, and acne on my face and back : (

Rants/Raves: I'm 99% sure I've felt movement TWICE now! The first time was on Wednesday last week, I was at work, and sitting down after being really active, and there was loud music playing. The second time was last night. It's so faint I wouldn't have noticed if I wasn't sitting perfectly still.

    Questions:

GTKY: What is one of your favorite children's books? Don't kill me but... I don't love children's books. I can deal with silly poetry, like Shel Silverstein or The Llama Who Had No Pajama

Interesting Baby Fact/Baby is the size of: Hard boiled egg! Wild.

Upcoming appointments: Waiting on my NIPT blood draw right now. 12 week regular OB appt tmrw. Had the first tri U/s and looking good so far!

How are you feeling?: Tired but I think energy is going to come back soon! Still a little nauseous with food aversions but feeling better.

Rants/Raves: Not really a rant or a rave but I think this may be boy #3 based on the u/s and I’m not sure what I feel about it. I don’t think we’ll be telling people because I don’t want to hear comments, esp from ILS who were already like “better be a girl!” 🙄

Also we have NO names. Baby may be named Baby at this point 😬

    Questions: NATM

GTKY: What is one of your favorite children's books? I have a few I enjoy reading but can’t remember their names at the moment. We have a lot of Usbourne books that I like!

Interesting Baby Fact/Baby is the size of: a plum

Upcoming appointments: Friday NIPT. Counting down the minutes to our gender results. It's going to be a long week (or more)

How are you feeling?: I thought my morning sickness was gone, but lately it seems to be coming back, particularly in the evenings. Yesterday was bad - threw up twice, which I hadn't done for a while...ugh. Definitely still having aversions and can never figure out what to eat.  My energy comes back, depending on the day.  I've been able to get a few walk/runs in (more like a sloooow trot). So that's been nice.

Rants/Raves:   not really a rant or a rave... but early this morning, I was getting ready to take my oldest son to school.  I put my jeans on, completed the ensemble with shoes and purse, and prepared myself to walk out the door. I happened to glance in the mirror before I left, and realized my pants were on backwards 🤣🤦‍♀️ I guess my maternity jeans are so baggy/frumpy that wearing them backwards felt exactly the same as frontwards.

    Questions: none

GTKY: What is one of your favorite children's books? One of my boys' favorite book was "Where's my Mommy" by Jo Brown. We still have their original, sticky, half-chewed copy lying around somewhere. We read it over and over again.

Interesting Baby Fact/Baby is the size of: peach, which seems so big!

Upcoming appointments: 24th for regular OB visit.

    How are you feeling?: Good.

Rants/Raves: we got 3 feet of snow last week and it’s snowing again today. I was hoping Spring was around the corner but all this snow is definitely going to delay it. I was planning to switch to our summer school schedule by May but I might as well wait until June now. What’s the point of having more free days when the snow is still on the ground.

    Questions:

GTKY: What is one of your favorite children's books? Little blue truck is a favorite in our house.

@Aerialmrs I hope you don’t feel bad the entire pregnancy.

@whatabout2ndbreakfast Did you get a view between the legs? I saw very clear boy parts at my 12 weeks scan and then again at 13 weeks for my NT scan. Then it was confirmed with the genetic results. I always thought it was way too soon to tell at 12 weeks but what I was seeing was pretty clear.

@kissyfir1586 That’s hilarious about your jeans. I grabbed what I thought were maternity jeans and they ended up being PP compression jeans. 🤦🏻‍♀️ I kept thinking they were the most uncomfortable maternity jeans I have ever owned.

@emeraldcity1214 she briefly did when she was looking at the legs so I thought I saw boy bits but am also admittedly not the best at reading u/s! She only gave me a 3D side view and then the head to take home

Interesting Baby Fact/Baby is the size of: A hot jalapeño

Upcoming appointments: regular OB appt 3/30

How are you feeling?: Overall really good! We announced publicly this weekend and it feels amazing to not have to hide anymore. I do REALLY poorly with the 12 week wait. It killed me last time too.

Rants/Raves: My NIPT results are taking FOREVER. Today I took it upon myself to call the lab and then to have my OB office call the lab too. And what do you know: they’re ready and being faxed over some time today. I should receive a call tomorrow and go pick up my gender envelope. Dying to know and jealous that my neighbor and good friend will get a peek first LOL - she’s going to order some confetti for us.

    Questions: NATM!

GTKY: What is one of your favorite children's books? “I love you through and through” is one of our favorites lately.

Interesting Baby Fact/Baby is the size of:
    Plum
Upcoming appointments: midwife tomorrow, ??? My specialist appt supposed to be soon

How are you feeling?: tired and emotional and pretty low

Rants/Raves: Rant: this past week has been pretty sucky. Between being told I'm going to lose the baby, I'm fine, hurry up and go for am emergency procedure, no I don't need the procedure, and now waiting in limbo to actually book my specialist appt to monitor my cervix (where I might be fine or told to go back to the hospital for an emergency procedure since it's ideally done by week 14)... just ugh. Also rant about spouses: as the parent who is always home, it drives me nuts when DH helps with the kids but is really lazy, ex leaves their clothes and dirty diapers on the floor, wet stroller left in trunk, outside clothes and accessories missing or messy etc. Feels like I had a kid helping me out.

Questions: anyone have any ways they help stay positive when feeling anxious about their pregnancy? I know it's mostly out of my control, but now I don't even want to make plans for the future until I get to 3rd trimester, at this point.

GTKY: What is one of your favorite children's books? The Gruffalo!

    Estimated Due Date/Weeks + Days:  9/21 13 weeks tomorrow!

Interesting Baby Fact/Baby is the size of: a baby? I have no idea

Upcoming appointments: Just had an ultrasound on Saturday, which was weird, but my perinatologist had to do a Saturday clinic because they are so backed up from the February snow storm, plus an influx of people with post-Covid health concerns... which is so freaky! My OB and perinatologist have some scary stories about how bad Covid can be for pregnant women... even young ones. Don’t let your guard down. But I know Covid isolation fatigue is no joke night now!

How are you feeling?: Pretty good! Oddly, at 38 this had been the easiest pregnancy so far (and this is my sixth time going through the first trimester!) I do totally pass out at night though.

Rants/Raves: one dog had diarrhea and one dog barfed last night. My house stinks. If I didn’t love them like family they would be sleeping in the garage. **shakes fist!** Next time I’m getting a pet rock.

Questions: Aside from backwards pants, what are you guys wearing? Maternity or
regular? My maternity stuff fits weird and my regular stuff doesn’t fit. If it were warmer I’d just wear a T-shirt dress or something.

GTKY: What is one of your favorite children's books? I have so many! All of which I love to read to my kids:
Anything Beatrix Potter (esp Mr Jeremy Fisher) because they are just so quaint and cute
    The Giving Tree
Alexander and the Terrible Horrible No Good Very Bad Day
    Goodnight Moon
Mike Mulligan and his Steam Shovel
    Where the Wild Things Are

Highly recommend getting the Epic Books for Kids app. It’s got so many titles and great audiobooks too.

@sleepydaze ❤️ I feel your DH comments so hard. Sometimes DH comes home from work and it’s like just go to bed, it’s easier to do it all myself vs figuring out later that this and that still need done. I don’t really have good tricks for anxious feelings besides getting outside or doing some stretching/light exercise but I guess you are probably avoiding the exercise until you get some more clarity on the situation. I’m sorry you’re dealing with the uncertainty. Hoping they can book you ASAP for everything to get sorted

@sleepydaze I feel the exact same way when DH helps out. Like he means well but sometimes just makes more work for me...... as for anxiety I wish I had tips but I only have solidarity. As @whatabout2ndbreakfast mentioned getting outside is a big one for me. Even if you can just chill on the lawn in a chair. Read a book. Decompress. Sending you lots of virtual hugs!

@mybigfatgreekfetus a friend of mine who works in a hospital said they have had babies delivered with covid positive moms where the placenta is just riddled with blood clots - it sounds so scary!!!! meanwhile my cousin had covid during her 2nd trimester and she was 100% fine within a week and baby is perfection. It’s so scary how differently it affects people.

@whatabout2ndbreakfast I got a 3D front-ish/side view and you can totally see male parts between his legs. It’s very obvious. You will see 3 lines if it’s a girl but the lines wouldn’t be visible from that view.

@emjeve it hasn’t stopped snowing all day. 🙄 I’m so over it.

Interesting Baby Fact/Baby is the size of: a  Pokémon card (my 9yo is very excited about this)

    Upcoming appointments: 4/8

How are you feeling?: I’ve been dealing with hip pain that just won’t seem to go away, and heartburn seems to be ramping up

Rants/Raves: we told our hockey family this Saturday (our friends turned family we’ve had since my sons first year of hockey). I have never felt more supported! We all got together that afternoon for our kids to practice lacrosse before the season starts and when we arrived our friends had a congratulatory cake waiting by the fire pit, a ton of non alcoholic drinks, and gifts! They’d known for maybe two hours. I’m so glad we fell in to this family by chance, they’re keepers for sure.

    Questions: NATM

GTKY: What is one of your favorite children's books? The Stinky Cheese Man! I still have my copy from when I was a kid. For newer reads we like any of the Jeffrey Brown books like “Goodnight Darth Vader”

Interesting Baby Fact/Baby is the size of: a plum

Upcoming appointments: April 6 will be the next one - just a quickie tough

How are you feeling?: actually feeling pretty great!

Rants/Raves: my 9 month old has been a not fantastic sleeper..but his saving grace has always been that he is EASY to put to bed - like takes 5 minutes, put in his crib awake since about 5 months old - no sleep training or crying it out necessary - just magically easy! Until this week. He decided that he no longer is about that life. Nothing in his routine has changed, he's not teething, he's his normal self otherwise..but screaming anytime I try to put him in his crib and it's just lame! DH and I super value our evening time - both kids are usually asleep by 7:30 (yes we are those parents) and I just want my nice evenings back!

    Questions: natm

GTKY: What is one of your favorite children's books? we love all things Eric Carle in our house and I also really love anything by Mo Willems (Piggie and Elephant, Pidgeon, Knuffle Bunny, etc.)

@Aerialmrs the acne is raging over here too -- it's getting worse on my chest which is just blehh

@emeraldcity1214 we got 2ft over the weekend and then more today...and it's supposed to snow Sun-Wednesday next week. I'm so over it!!!!!! March is always our snowiest month though, so I should expect it by now..

@chewie5990 This is only my second winter here and last year we had colder temps and less snow. I’m not sure which I prefer. Although, getting out in -20 is difficult so maybe it’s the extra snow I prefer. I’m originally from the south so it’s usually summer by now and I miss the heat. I really hope we have a hot summer. One so hot I have to be out of my house just to be comfortable (we don’t have AC). I just want to soak up the sun this summer.

@emeraldcity1214 woof, moving from the south to Alaska would be a really tough sell for me 😂

@muggsd Not when your income would increase in a dramatic way. Plus we have family up here. DH is from AK.

@emeraldcity1214 I definitely would rather more snow than more cold! It doesn't get that cold here - we might get a few days in the negatives each year, but most winter is in the 30s. I'm not a huge fan of the cold..I don't mind the snow when it doesn't hinder our normal activities but by this time of year I'm just way past over it.

@chewie5990 I’m actually allergic to the cold. My body releases a ton of histamine anytime I’m out in the cold for any length of time. So I have dealt with lots of body aches and tenderness when we have spent more than an hour out there. When we went to the beach to see the ice formations a few weeks back it was so cold the wind off the water was hurting my face. Later that evening my face looked like it had been burned. It was swollen and tender to the touch. Yes, we knew about my condition before moving up here. 🤦🏻‍♀️ I don’t go out when it’s below zero. At least not to stay for any length of time. My youngest daughter is very sensitive to the cold too so I have to keep her in at certain temps too.
