OH good, I so need this thread today. I have been AWFUL at eating healthy, exercising, and minimizing alcohol for the past 3-4 months and my body is starting to show it. So, this week, everything changes!
What habits, goals, or resolutions are you focusing on this week? Well, Whole30 is officially starting on Wednesday, but we are (MH and I) are easing into it as of today. Wed timing has to do with 9th day honoring of my grandmother which is tomorrow (Orthodox custom) and the requisite eating/drinking that will happen then. I'm also trying to get back into running (which I grown to love since moving to California) but my dratted knee had gotten in the way of running on asphalt / and also I live on top of a hill so running hills doesn't help either. So, today I drove to the high school track and ran/walked 8 laps. Goal is to do this 4x this week.
How's everything going? Any recent wins? Around Thanksgiving, MH and I started to get fast and loose with what we ate / drank. Our alcohol consumption went way up (from basically abstaining for 9 months from when we started ttc in Feb 2020). We started eating a lot more sweets, sugars, grains, and... worst of all... pizza. Since Nov 20, I've gained 15.5lbs. I am really disappointed with myself and also hoping that some of that is water weight.
What has you motivated or struggling this week? I'm feeling energized about starting a new round of Whole30 (I did around back in Jul/Aug). Also really happy about my decision to get back to running; I really really miss it. I'm also going to look into whether or not I can do something about my knee pain (which relates to reduced cartilage).
What habits, goals, or resolutions are you focusing on this week? I am on day 3 of going gluten-free!
How's everything going? Any recent wins? So far, so good - it's way too early to see any benefits and this is all probably psychosomatic, but I do feel like I have more energy. I was also pleasantly surprised to see that a lot of the things I eat/have in the house are naturally gluten free, and my supermarket has a pretty good selection of GF items. (I do need to stop at Trader Joe's though!) Also, my husband is very into baking and has already baked me a loaf of GF bread and orange cake (it doesn't taste that great, but I appreciate the thought.)
What has you motivated or struggling this week? I am feeling motivated that I can stick to this commitment and also see it as a fun challenge for myself. And hey, if it helps to getting KU...
DH got wonderful looking pasta at a restaurant we love that JUST opened back up after being closed for nearly a year due to the pandemic. They sadly don't offer any GF pasta, so I just had to look at his delightful rigatoni with pesto.
