Trying to Get Pregnant

WTO Tuesday 1.19

**This is a thread that welcomes all regardless of where they are at in their TTC journeys. Please be mindful of topics that are discussed that could be hurtful to those going through tough times. Mention of children or pregnancies of others should have a TW (trigger warning) and be in a spoiler if possible, and only be mentioned if it is extremely pertinent to the conversation. Thanks for keeping this a safe place for us all to engage!**

    WAYDTGKU: BBT, OPKs

R/R: I have a professional day today (so no students) and we get to work from home for it! This is one of the only enjoyable things from the pandemic work-wise. My mouth is pretty sore from getting the crown yesterday so I have to lay off of that side of my mouth for now. I am toying with the idea of getting the Clearblue ovulation strips/monitor for this cycle just bc it takes a bit for me to ovulate! But I haven’t decided if I want to drop that kind of money on test strips yet. I am not really liking the pregmate ones I have atm.

edited for correct name of strips

  • @fameonmain2 yay WFH! I feel you on the long cycles.

    Month/Cycle: 3/3

    CD: 20

WAYDTGKU: bbt, opks, cm, cinnamon supplements

R/R: blugh, got a migraine right before bed last night. At least it made me go to bed at a reasonable hour? Head seems better painwise today but still dealing with an olfactory aura so who knows if it'll hurt again. Plus dealing with the migraine hangover anyway. Always happens when I'm off. At least I can blob on the couch and still fold laundry, so SOMETHING can get tidied today.

CS/Q: nothing exiting, I should probably start opks today though

  • @fameonmain2 So nice that you get to WFH on your professional day. Hope your mouth heals up quickly from the dentist.

@fantasyflyte Ugh, sorry about the migraine, that is absolutely no fun. Good luck with folding laundry while plopped on the couch. Give yourself some grace if it doesn’t get done.

    Month/Cycle: 32/lost track

    CD: 2

WAYDTGKU: Lots of vitamins and meds. Hoping to do a natural FET (Frozen Embryo Transfer) this month.

R/R: Rave: It’s really cold and rainy today, and I only have one telehealth appointment today. So I can spend this cold lazy day in the house how I want.

    CS/Q: Nothing to show

  • @fameonmain2 why don't you like the Premom strips? Enjoy your professional day. Hopefully your tooth feels better soon.

@fantasyflyte Sorry to hear about the migraine; did you manage to sleep well despite? Glad at least that you're off and can relax a bit.

@keikilove enjoy your lazy rainy day!

    Month/Cycle: 12/13

    CD: 6

WAYDTGKU: Combo IUI (Letrazole + Menopur); also getting a saline sonogram tomorrow; and as always, lots of vitamins and supplements to keep MH's and my "inputs" (i.e. sperm and eggs) in tip-top shape.

R/R: I had a great weekend! The weather was so so so nice, reaching into low 70's yesterday. I actually had to put on sunscreen reading out on the back deck. We're having a very unusual winter here which I'm sure we'll pay for during the fire season. It's supposed to rain a few days over the next week, and I'm really hoping it does.

This is my last week to submit peer performance reviews and I have about 4 left to do (already did 4; I actually declined to do 4 others since 13 peer review is just TOO MANY!)

  • @fameonmain2 What aren’t you liking about the Premom strips? Are they like the Pregmate ones?

@fantasyflyte I’m sorry about your migraine. That sucks, but it’s nice you got more sleep!

@keikilove Hey girl! I sent you a PM a week or so ago! Of course I remember you. Yay for a FET this month!

    Month/Cycle: 2/2

    WAYDTGKU: OPKs

R/R: I sent a couple emails this morning. One to my RE’s office to see what tests they will require for an IUI, and another email to my PCP (I had wanted to send the email directly to my OB but her name was off my list of recipients, likely because it’s been over a year since I’ve seen her). I’m hoping I can do a medicated cycle with my OB before moving on to my RE. We’ll see. I also got a dental appointment schedule for in a couple weeks. What are the thoughts of an x-ray during the TWW? I’m going to request that they put a lead apron on me so I think that’s fine, right?

  • @fantasyflyte ugh, sorry about the migraine. Also echo @keikilove that you should definitely give yourself some grace if it doesn't get done. Folding seems easy enough but I know everything is hard with a migraine.

@keikilove enjoy your lazy rainy day! Mouth feels okay, I very nearly forgot about that torture after my cycling incident today  :D

@acleverusername @ljmoon6 You both made me realize that I meant to write pregmate instead of premom! Fixed that. I feel like I'm not getting vey clear positives with the pregmate strips. I originally started with the easy@home ones which I found gave me much clearer positives. Could also be my timing and a short LH surge though. Still figuring out OPK strips as I'm not super consistent with them.

@acleverusername Glad to hear you had a great weekend! I hope you're able to get through the rest of those reviews quickly (you were asked to do 13?! that's crazy!).

@LJMoon6 Hope you get some answers from your inquiries this morning. As for the dental work, I don't really have much advice on whether or not to do X-rays during the TWW but my dentist always puts the lead apron on me no matter what - I thought that was a given? I bet your dentist will advise if you ask though. Are the X-rays necessary or just the annual ones?
  • @fameonmain2 Oh ya. If you’re not getting a clear positive then I would switch too. I also have a short LH surge. But mine always gets super strong so there’s no questioning it for me. I’m going to a new dentist and it’s been a while since I’ve had a cleaning. I’m sure they’re going to want to do x-rays, which I think I’m fine with. I’m just super anxious about everything while TTC. Ugh.

  • @fameonmain2 I liked the easy@home tests as well; more so than my Premom (actually Premom :P) ones. It takes a while to find a test you like! I've tried others that I didn't. If interested, you should check out Proov's founder's OPK experiment: https://proovtest.com/blogs/blog/opk-experiment

@LJMoon6 sounds like you're getting all your ducks in order! Feel free to come on over to IF thread when you start testing or if you have any questions ahead of time.

  • @acleverusername Thanks for linking the Proov article. I'm kind of a data nerd so I enjoyed reading it!  My RE recommended the Clearblue advanced digital for the same reason--longer positive window, more advanced notice before O to TI.
@fantasyflyte Ohhh girl, I feel ya on the migraines.  They are the worst!  Take the couch day and rest your brain to recover faster tomorrow.
@LJMoon6 Yay for making contacts with your providers to get things going!  Hope they are able to help you make a plan for next cycle.
@fameonmain2 Hope your mouth feels better!  I am really liking the ClearBlue OPKs, I think they're worth trying for a cycle or two.  I had a really hard time getting clear positives and trends on the Easy@home tests, but maybe it was just that I didn't actually ovulate for a month or two?!
@keikilove Yay for spending rainy days at home!

R/R: Feel like a slacker for not being able to get on here until later in the evening to read and tag. :( Not much to update today as I worked from 6a-6p.  Today should be O day, but I did get my 2nd dose of covid vaccine today so hoping I already O'd and that the vaccine response doesn't mess that up if we somehow got lucky.  But time will tell...I'll move to TWW tomorrow and realllly try to hold off on testing until the day before AF is due.  It just makes me crazy and I also need to avoid the SS.  Easier said than done!

    CS/Q: Nothing to see here!

  • @quiltandknit You don’t have to feel like a slacker! Sometimes days just get too crazy, I totally get it. Hope the vaccine didn’t mess up your O and that you don’t feel too crappy after the vaccine.
  • @quiltandknit you shouldn't feel like a slacker at all esp since you worked a 12-hr day! Also, don't feel like you have to post every day. It's easy to have that mindset when you're first joining the Community, but it starts to feel like a lot of pressure, which this isn't supposed to be. Congrats on 2nd dose of vaccine! Yay.

@acleverusername Sounds like you had a lovely weekend! Hope your week continues to go well and that you can get those reviews done without too much stress.

@LJMoon6 Hey! I’m terrible about checking my inbox. (I’m almost always on TTGP from my phone & there’s no alert about PMs.) Hope you get answers quickly about which tests before an IUI! As far as the X-rays, define ask for the lead apron and be sure to tuck it up high all around your neck. I’ve been told by a couple of doctors that much of the population now deals with thyroid issues because of all the x-rays we get over the years and not carefully protecting the thyroid from the radiation.
@fameonmain2 I usually swear by the Pregmate OPKs, but this newest box I got has their new coloring and new logo, and they seemed to not be as sensitive this time. I could be wrong, as I was having a weird cycle overall. But I got tons of faint negatives for many days, then within 12 hours I got an equivalent High, then a not-as-strong-as-usual Peak reading, then back to negative and in the morning. I’m going to watch extra closely this cycle and see if it’s the new batch of strips or that one wonky cycle.
@quiltandknit Don’t worry yourself about when you can join in. It’s just nice to see more people interacting and taking part in TTGP overall.😉 Hope you feel ok after your second dose of the vaccine, and that it doesn’t affect your TWW at all.
