Trying to Get Pregnant

WTO weekend 1.16

**This is a thread that welcomes all regardless of where they are at in their TTC journeys. Please be mindful of topics that are discussed that could be hurtful to those going through tough times. Mention of children or pregnancies of others should have a TW (trigger warning) and be in a spoiler if possible, and only be mentioned if it is extremely pertinent to the conversation. CD:  16

    WAYDTGKU:  OPKs, prenatals, Coq10, DHEA

R/R:  We have no plans this weekend so I'm excited to spend some time on sewing.  I've been working on quilted snowflake table runners that I intended to put out after Christmas decorations came down and still haven't finished them.  Off to my favorite fabric shop (social distanced) to pick up a couple more things.  Tomorrow I will meal prep for work and cook our dinners for the week.  I work 10-12 hour days so food has to be ready to go the second we get home--we are hangry!  I like to cook but hate doing it under pressure.

CS/Q: nothing to see here...my OPK (digital) just gave me my first flashing smiley so I didn't miss O.  I'll be here for a couple more days, probably.

  • @quiltandknit Enjoy the sewing projects! Good for you for doing meal prep on Sundays. It's something I'd like to do for our lunches (we use Hello Fresh for dinners) but I just don't have the patience/energy to do it on Sundays. 10-12 hour days are long!!

    Month/Cycle: 8/7

    CD: 10

    WAYDTGKU: charting, OPKs

R/R: This is such a first world problem, I know, but my Apple Watch essentially forced me to update this morning and it's been 4 hours and it's still not done. I'm in a ring closing challenge and it's not looking like I'll be able to get much done with that today... ugh. Anyways, it's raining cats and dogs here but should clear up and be a pretty mild weekend after noon today. I think I'd like to try a new hiking spot tomorrow with DH and the dog. TOO excited for the long weekend.

CS/Q: temp's getting down to normal pre-O levels so that's a good thing!

  • Loading the player...
  • @quiltandknit your household sounds like a well-oiled food production machine! I wish I had the energy to meal plan and prep. Hooray for not missing O!

@fameonmain2 You can probably change the settings on your Apple Watch so that it doesn't auto-update. Alas, I hear you on the ring closing challenges... it's disappointing when you can't complete one because of forces outside of your control. Btw, I remembered that I never answered your question about why I don't like TD. I usually wake up at the same hour, and when I used to temp orally, didn't find it too much of a hassle to do regularly. And the 2-day adjustment that TD is really annoying especially in luteal phase. Especially if you're taking progesterone (which I started in August, just 1.5 after receiving my TD) my temps would get so high one day, giving me false hope, only to have a major correction the next day. It was an emotional rollercoaster I didn't need. Anyway, I paid extra to be able to return it within 1 year, so I think I'll do that. Given that I'm in fertility treatments, it doesn't really make sense. It was a nice experiment.

    Month/Cycle: 12/13

    CD: 3

WAYDTGKU: Okay, Combo IUI cycle is back on since my "lead follicle" turned out to be a non-functioning cyst. Yay. Started Letrazole yesterday; adding in Menopur on Monday. MH and I also take lots of vitamins and supplements and HIO for funsies.

R/R: My sleeping is just not great. Once again last night I had night sweats though apparently that can be an effect of Letrazole. I also think it's been a few degrees warmer at night and even though we sleep with a window open, I have a feeling that's a contributing factor. I think I might have to bring out a lighter blanket tonight to see if that helps.

I have no real plans this weekend, but I do have some legal paperwork I need to fill out. Yuck. It's soul-sucking but necessary. Will probably get outside for a walk around the neighborhood on all 3 days. Oh, though I do have a call with a couple of girlfriends on Monday and also a work-related call this afternoon. I don't like doing work calls on the weekend, but this one is with a Sr. VP for a 1:1 and if you want to talk to him, you need to make yourself available for a weekend chat. And I want to talk to him. Lol.

    CS/Q: nah

  • @acleverusername Good to know for next time... it's now 1:00 and I'm still not done so there goes goes my challenge for the day. I've had to restart the syncing twice now  :( And that makes sense for your experience with TD. Glad you're able to return!
  • @quiltandknit nice! I'm spending my free time this weekend working on a largeish cross stitch project myself. I've been really struggling with my eating the last few weeks, maybe I should look into the meal prepping. Hello Fresh was excellent for us while we could afford it, so maybe prepping would make it similar - ready to go stuff the night of.

@fameonmain2 that's like when my computer basically takes itself hostage to update Windows - "I can update now or in 15 minutes but it's GOING to happen!"

@acleverusername I feel you on the sleep, I hope yours levels out soon.

WAYDTGKU: opks, cm, bbt, cinnamon supplements for ovulation

R/R: sorry I've been just not posting, feeling very blag lately. my sleep schedule is all messed up and that's screwing mightily with my temps. haven't had the mental energy to start OPKs but given my last two cycles had O on CD30 and CD33, I'm not exactly worried about missing it yet. Long cycles suck so hard, I can't help but mope right now that if I had a "normal" cycle I'd be in the TWW right now instead of waiting and waiting and waiting (I know it's irrational and I know there's no such thing as normal, just feeling down in the dumps).

    CS/Q:

  • @fantasyflyte I can’t recall, have you been tested for PCOS? Long cycles are a red flag for that.

  • @acleverusername yeah, my new gyn formally diagnosed me with PCOS last month. I'd suspected it for years, but my old gyno never saw the need to test or anything because I wasn't trying to conceive and the treatment at that point would be BCP, which I was going on anyway.

New gyno said given my long and irregular cycles, combined with weight/acne/hair issues was enough proof for her to diagnose it without needing to do an ultrasound or anything. We're trying naturally while I work on losing weight, and if we don't have any luck by my gyno followup in April, she's going to order blood tests for hormones and such. She wanted me to start drinking cinnamon ginger tea to help regulate ovulation but I couldn't stand the taste, so I've started taking a cinnamon supplement.
  • @fantasyflyte It's been a rough week for a lot of us it seems! I agree - my cycles are not as long as yours but I totally understand - it's hard to wait for so long in the WTO and watch others move into the TWW quickly. I hope you're able to do something for yourself this weekend to hopefully get in a better mental spot. Hugs
  • @fameonmain2  we love Hello Fresh too!  I do that for a couple weeks every now and again when we are bored with what we're eating or I know I'm not going to have as much time to plan and prep.  Actually, I think next week we have a Blue Apron coming.  I pause them until they send me a discount code!  And the AW updates are so frustrating!  It took me 2 days last time to get my watch and phone to agree.  And even still, my Fitness+ doesn't sync correctly!

@acleverusername Hooray for IUI being back on!  Boo for legal paperwork.  How did the call with your VP go?

@fantasyflyte ooh what kind of cross stitch project are you doing?  And I love meal prep, so if you want tips on how to get started (and do it inexpensively), hit me up!
  • @fantasyflyte you should look into myo-inositol. That’s a really good one to help regulate your likely high androgen hormones (it lowers testosterone). The recommended dose is usually 4000mg. I used to take 4000mg of myo-inositol and 100mg of d-Chiro-inositol (in the same pill) until it turned out that I have hypoandrogenic PCOS need to raise my testosterone levels.

  • I guess I belong on this thread this time...AF was due Friday but hasn't shown yet and BFNs were had several days.

    Month/Cycle: 4ish

    CD: I guess 30!?

WAYDTGKU: prenatals, going to try OPKs this once we get to that point since clearly things have become kind of irregular

R/R: for once I got all my tasks got knocked off my weekend todo list!! (Well, working on the last one now, just needed a break!)

    CS/Q:

I'm sure I'll have some questions this next month for the opks!

  • @quiltandknit I'd love some tips! The project is a pretty set of peonies, the finished projects is going to be about 8.5 x 12.5 inches, it's the biggest single project I've attempted so far (I only got into cross stitch over the summer).
  • @fantasyflyte My best tip is to pick one meal or snack to prep...maybe it's making 1 or 2 dinners ahead, or prepping lunches for work, or healthy snacks.  Our faves for lunch or dinner are stir fry/rice bowls, taco meat or salsa chicken, pasta but loaded with veg and protein, or roasted veggies and potatoes with chicken sausage.  I keep fruit and cheese sticks, veggies with hummus, and protein bars on hand to throw in my lunch box and go!  Perhaps we should continue to discuss in the healthy habits thread? :)
