  • @thebeelady welcome! I know there's an International Bumpies board but I don't think it's used much. My MIL is about to start her own bee colony. She gets her bees in June. Sounds like lots of fun!

@_orchid_ welcome! Kids say the darndest things sometimes don't they 😆 there's a weekly TTC after loss (TTCAL) thread that you may be interested in participating in.

Look forward to getting to know you both 🙂

  • Thank you @inthewoods23

I'm so interested in the bees! Does your MIL have any training or background to prepare her for a colony?

@thebeelady how did you get into beekeeping? Were you affected by the fires at all?
  • @_orchid_ Welcome.  What is your background as an elementary school librarian?  I always thought that would be an amazing job, but didn't know if you needed any special training for it.

@thebeelady. Welcome.  My dad wants to have a bee hive so badly, but my mother will not let him due to HIS bee allergy.  There are a couple hives in his neighborhood and when the weather is nice, he gives me daily updates on them.
  • @_orchid_ haha well she visited my FIL's cousin down in TX back in October or November and they have a number of bee colonies and she just fell in love with the idea of being a beekeeper. She's done lots of reading and research!

  • @dobiemom11 I have a master's in library science with a specialty in education :) I was a children's librarian in a public library for about 10 years before switching to a school. Librarianship is about information - how to organize it and how to find it, and how to help other people find what they need. I love it!
That's so funny that your dad wants a beehive despite his allergies!

@inthewoods23 good for her! I hope it works out! I always plant flowers for the bees in my area in the spring/summer but have never even thought about a bee colony, so cool!

  • Thanks for the welcome everyone, and sorry for the slow reply!

@_orchid_ it was my husband’s hobby to begin with and it’s sort of evolved from there. We were very lucky with the fires, we weren’t directly affected but my in-laws were evacuated and had friends that lost their homes. We just had the smoke, and that was bad enough - I can’t imagine what it would have been like in areas directly affected.

@dobiemom11 funny story - my husband is allergic to bees. We have a lot of antihistamines on hand 😅

  • @thebeelady glad you were ok! I can't imagine either, really makes a person appreciate what they have. So funny that your husband is allergic to bees and it was his hobby first!

I was diagnosed with PCOS and took both Clomid and metformin as prescribed by my RE but I swear the metformin is what worked for me! Did you get any testing done yet?

ETA because it didn’t tag Alex at first

  • Hi! @MrsB627 I haven't done any testing. But I have problems with my thyroid during the last 14 years, and since I didn't ovulate every month. I'm a little scared in taking Clomid just because I worry about multiple births... what do you think?
  • @wabash15 thank you for the information!!
  • @alex109 Exactly what the previous post said! It’s definitely not something to take without being monitored frequently on. What testing have you done? Have you seen an RE yet.

This is my first time posting.

Ages (you and SO):  I am 40 and my husband is 46.

How many months have you been TTC?:   Starting now.... this month.  Nervous.

What are you doing to get knocked up (WAYDTGKU)?:   Charting

Tell us about yourself! (Kids, pets, job, hobbies, etc.):  We have a 4 year old son.  I’m nervous because of my age and in January I made a huge career change opening my own business.

I’m looking forward to getting to know everyone and helping out on this journey we are all in together.

Edit:  I changed my name when I signed up but it doesn’t seem to be working.
