Re: Holiday Gift Ideas

  • I need an idea for a white elephant - any thoughts?  MH's friends always do a Christmas get together and we usually get randomly assigned a person for a secret Santa but this year we are doing a white elephant and I have no idea what to get!  It needs to be suitable for either a woman or a man to pick it!

  • @kpearse99 What's your budget? This is what I'm putting in MH's family grab this year!

One of my favorite grab gifts to do though is to go to a popular local family-owned Italian chain and buy a gift card AND a loaf of their Italian bread that they sell take-out because it's so amazing. Then I wrap it up together and it's always a hit!

  • @kpearse99 We do white elephant for the past few years with MH's side of the fam (~$20)... Popular gift is always scratch offs -you can arrange them in a frame to form a tree or wreath.  We've given Bath & Body soaps with a candle, shore themed little trays/plates as a few people have shore themed rooms.  This year I'm thinking of doing a zen gift with a candle and essential oils.  Last year I brought a Himalayan sea salt lamp that was a hit.  If all else fails, bring something you would want and choose that gift  :D

@ziggymama06 those are great ideas!! We are all couples (well, accept for one poor man haha) so these ideas are awesome! I really like the pasta and dipping oil basket idea!

ETA - maybe I could combine that into like a "date night in" kit - a bottle of wine, specialty pasta, bread with oil and a game all in a big pasta bowl!

  • @kpearse99 gift cards to Hobby Lobby are highly sought after in the white elephant with DH's side 😆

Last year someone bought a bowl that's perfect for pistachios. There's a medium sided bowl that's like the shape of a taco salad shell (it's wavy) with a small bowl that nests within the bowl so the shells get discarded into the larger bowl. Would go great with a bag of nuts!

  • I gifted myself a new flat iron just now. I used to straighten my hair every day but grew to love my waves so I really don't use it much anymore but the one I have is like 15 years old so I figured I should use something with better technology.

I've used jane.com a bunch and they had a deal on a flat iron for $35, down from $280. Love me a good deal!

  • We got my MIL a new Henkels knife set block, and tickets to a show in April 2020 that me and her have been dying to go see for many years. We’re going together just her and I ❤️ Lots of clothes for my step daughter this year and not sure what we’re getting for my FIL yet or little nephew.
