Re: GTKY 11/4 - Foods

  • 1. What are some of your favorite foods? I love Mexican food. Also a fan of steak and potatoes, Thai food, and a really good burger.

    2. What foods have been your go-to's this pregnancy? Vietnamese chicken dumplings. It is a lot better than last time. With DS, I craved Taco Bell and ate it weekly. Little Miss has more expensive taste, I guess.

    3. What are you most looking forward to eating postpartum? Fried egg with a runny yolk. I used to have one with breakfast frequently. It’s especially good on a burger. Yum.

  • 1. What are some of your favorite foods? I'm definitely very into sweets. Aside from sweets, I really like pasta. Love Olive Garden.

    2. What foods have been your go-to's this pregnancy? pasta, soup, and bagels have been good for me. Loving salad even more than normal. All about ice cream and tater tots, too. I'm interested to see what happens when the real craving start. Last pregnancy it was donuts and Wendy's fries for me.

    3. What are you most looking forward to eating postpartum? Subway. I want a cold deli meat sandwich so badly! Thankfully, the hospital has a 24 hour Subway.

  • 1. Favorite foods- Thai food and Mexican food

    2. What foods have been you go-to’s this pregnancy?
Dave’s Killer Bread Everything bagels, cheese flavored snacks, grapes, flavored almonds

    3. What are you most looking forward to eating postpartum?
Being a vegetarian, there’s not much I have had to give up, besides soft cheeses, but I don’t really crave them right now or really look forward to them. Maybe a nice glass of wine....
  • Oooh yay! I love talking about food!

    1. What are some of your favorite foods? My husband is a chef/owns and runs a catering company so I will basically eat anything delicious, except seafood. My favorite “genres” of food would be Mexican and Italian. Some favorite dishes would be chicken broccoli alfredo, tacos, a full out turkey dinner (hooray for Thanksgiving coming soon!), and homemade pizza. I’m also a huge fruit and cheese and crackers fan. Mmmm now I’m hungry.

    2. What foods have been your go-to's this pregnancy? Fruit - cold ripe grapes, berries, apples with peanut butter, etc. Cheese and crackers as always. Grilled cheese and tomato soup is my comfort go to. Ice cream has been my unhealthy guilty pleasure.

    3. What are you most looking forward to eating postpartum? PLEASE GIVE ME AN ITALIAN SUB. All the Italian deli meat on the fluffiest sub roll with alllllll the olive oil and pickles and onions and tomatoes and lettuce. Mmmmm.
  • @mercury94 I love a nice runny yolk on a burger and also with breakfast to dip bacon and toast into!

@Kathryn0903 I never knew how much I loved deli meat until it was taken away from me!!

@babyrummom What kind of wine? I could go for a nice big icy glass of Prosecco...

    1. What are some of your favorite foods?
    pancakes. Burgers and fries. Sandwiches.

    2. What foods have been your go-to's this pregnancy?
saltines and ginger ale.  Grilled cheese sandwiches. Milk. Cheerios. Peanut butter and pickle sandwiches.

    3. What are you most looking forward to eating postpartum?
Sub sandwiches. Like@literatureandink I want a good Italian sub with peppers and onions and tomatoes and olive oil and vinegar. My mouth is watering right now thinking about it.

Edited to add: I miss beer. I just want an ice cold tap beer. And then a delicious Bloody Mary.
  • @literatureandink I’d like a nice Savignon blanc or a Riesling!
  • 1. What are some of your favorite foods? I’m not a picky eater at all, so this is a tough one! Probably pizza or Mexican food.

    2. What foods have been your go-to's this pregnancy? It literally changes week to week! I was on a egg bite kick from Starbucks for awhile, I had to find a copycat recipe for the instant pot. I went through a soup phase and I’m currently loving rice bowls.

    3. What are you most looking forward to eating postpartum? Vodka soda, soft cheese and cold deli meat.
  • 1. What are some of your favorite foods?  Mexican, spicy foods in general, pizza of course!

    2. What foods have been your go-to's this pregnancy? Chicken picatta, garlicy things, baked goods, fruit

    3. What are you most looking forward to eating postpartum?  I'm a jaded TTM and the only thing I've stopped eating/drinking is wine.  @babyrummom I'm DYING for a cold glass of crisp white wine, Savignon blanc or a Riesling would be perfect.

  • @babyrunmom I could go for some reisling. Last pregnancy, I was the mom who packed wine in her hospital bag to have for after delivering.🙈😂

  • @kfrob tell me about your jaded status. Do you eat whatever you want, like cold cuts and soft serve and runny eggs? My friend is a TTM and she told me to eat all that stuff. She said "Did you ever get sick from eating an italian sub before?" Basically she said, don't get food from a shady source and you're fine. Is that your philosophy?
  • @literatureandink yes, yes, and yes!  And steak with pink, soft cheese, coffee, etc.  Just like your friend said, just stay away from shady places and you're good!  The only stuff I try to avoid is like processed stuff with nitrates, chicory root, and I'm not having stuff I wouldn't eat anyway like beef tartare or raw cookie dough.
  • 1. What are some of your favorite foods? Mexican and a good brie with apples and crusty bread

    2. What foods have been your go-to's this pregnancy? Carbs, all the bread and sour cream and onion lays! This will be my 3rd child in 3yrs so I already feel huge. Would love to crave more salads!

    3. What are you most looking forward to eating postpartum? Mimosa! I'm not a big drinker, but I love a good brunch drink.
I've had a deli sandwich last pregnancy and I bake brie so it's good. I mean deli meat was a no no bc of listeria and we've had more outbreaks here from apples and lettuce but no one is telling me to avoid those! I still mainly avoid deli meat, but I have caved once or twice.

  • 1. What are some of your favorite foods?
    Bagels and Chipotle.

    2. What foods have been your go-to's this pregnancy? Salads! I love a crisp delicious salad. And the tomato mozz sandwich from Starbucks that they ALWAYS RUN OUT OF. There are like 5 chicken/turkey sandwiches and only one vegetarian. Stock more tomato mozz!

    3. What are you most looking forward to eating postpartum?
Pepsi. All the Pepsi I could ever want. I don't drink coffee, so I need it to survive post-partum. It was an amazing day when I realized I could have two cans and not count any caffeine mgs.

If you're craving some cookie dough, the vegan dough in the fridge section is definitely egg free.
  • 1. What are some of your favorite foods? I love sushi, crab legs, and thai food! Now that the weather's cold I can't wait to have some Pho!

    2. What foods have been your go-to's this pregnancy? cereal & milk, hamburgers, apples and peanut butter, chips and salsa, and grapes.

    3. What are you most looking forward to eating postpartum? Give me a spicy tuna roll stat! I'd also love some brie on crackers.

@b@babyrummom I love Dave's Killer Bread Everything Bagels. DH and I toast them and then put a fried egg (very cooked so no runny yolk),guacamole and then sometimes bacon. I also add some hot sauce too. SO. GOOD.
  • Can’t you eat Brie as long as it’s pasteurized?
  • At least in the US, most cheese is pasteurized. I haven't even thought to give up soft cheeses.
  • I normally don't eat most soft cheese, but I figure it's most likely pasteurized anyway if I happen to eat it at a restaurant or something.

  • Okay phew because I’ve been enjoying the heck out of brie...
  • @literatureandink I know brie is safe, but it's so good baked and DH doesn't usually want to wait, it's a good excuse!! Might need to get some for this weekend.

  • @smallbutmighty77 I've been wanting baked brie and cranberry
  • @littleredm I started eating those bagels when I used to be a tad queasy in the morning. I’m not anymore, but I still am in the habit of having just half with butter every morning when I first get up!
  • @KFrob & @smallbutmighty77 I want some baked Brie with raspberry coulis and crusty French bread 🧀 🥖
  • Excuse me @literatureandink please move your comment from GTKY to Crazy Cravings. 😉😉
  • Literally could eat soup and salad for every single meal.  Also still eating all the cheese-everything in the US is pasteurized unless maybe you are at a very authentic french restaurant in which case ask. My midwife said deli meat was totally fine. In my first trimester I had turkey a few times because it was all I could stomach-turkey and cheese on a wrap.  But haven't had it much since. Although I guess I would. I am  DYING for a nice heavy glass of red now that the weather is cool. Pretty much all I am craving that I won't have.  Or maybe  sushi.
  • Fave foods: Apples, sharp cheddar, Mexican, Thai, all the carbs.

This pregnancy: Apples, fruit in general, smoothies, roast chicken, waffles with peanut butter, chai tea.

After pregnancy: I've also thrown caution to the wind regarding most food. Recent foodborne illness outbreaks have been from ice cream, spinach, cantaloupe, etc. It's impossible to avoid the real risks. I also have the occasional glass of wine. But I'm looking forward to getting slightly tipsy on good craft beer.
