Speaking of toilets I definitely used to flush my tampons and "flushable" wipes down the toilet.

I stopped after getting lectured by DH (of all people) since we have a septic system.

I also sit on public toilets. I read somewhere that it’s cleaner to just sit because if you squat - TMI - more germs will splat up into you 

And I also used to flush tampons! I didn’t know you weren’t supposed to. I don’t remember where I learned it but I feel like it was a random thread on TK when I was planning my wedding

@bows22 it's funny but it totally tells you on the box not to flush them! Like obviously I knew not to flush the plastic applicator, but having to handle a bloody tampon never occurred to me. Like how can I cleanly take it out, get it wrapped in some TP and toss it in my trash? I struggle sometimes!

@inthewoods23 I never thought twice about flushing mine until we had (unrelated) plumbing issues and got nervous. Now I only flush in public places even though I probably shouldn’t 🤷🏼‍♀️

eta all the bloody tampon talk is reminding me of a very vivid childhood memory. I was probably like 7 and my aunt took me to a public restroom somewhere. I remember looking in the toilet and literally thinking it was an eyeball with the nerve attached. I freaked out and my aunt was like uhhhh let’s go to another stall. I LOL now thinking of that and knowing what it was.

@b_1029 every so often I run into a bathroom that doesn't have one of those little trash cans (which DH calls magical boxes lol) so I just flush my tampon. Like sure, I could wrap it up a ton and toss it in the garbage for the paper towel but I'd rather not touch everything on my way out.

A good portion of the time at work I just flush them because 1, same as reason above with no garbage in the stall and 2, the other single stall bathroom has the garbage can across the room by the sink and I'd rather not throw them and miss. I try tossing my pantiliners and pads though since those can get folded and wrapped back up to prevent my bodily fluids from ending up on the floor.

I don't know if I could ever get myself to sit on a public toilet lol I just put toilet paper down. & I definitely still flush tampons. oops.

my fffc is that I left food out probably a little too long last night and still ate it today anyway. oh well.

Most of my bumping is done at traffic lights and in the bathroom while brushing my teeth, portioning out vitamins, or peeing.

@NYTino24 my long answers are definitely 99% of the time done while I'm in our single occupancy bathroom at work. Well, maybe 90% and the other 10% is while I'm on walks around our office building.

I wonder how germy my phone is 😅

ok, I totally am guilty of flushing tampons all the time 🤨 oopsie daisy. 🤷‍♀️ I wrap up pads and liners etc and put them in the trash. Also, I sit on public toilets too.

True story: I backed out of buying a house when we discovered it had septic (we live right outside a major city and it’s only one of like 4 properties not on the city sewer) because I could not bear to live without ever accidentally flushing a tampon. 😂 

It didn’t help that the septic system was questionable too. As soon as I heard the words “leaching field in the backyard” I was like ok I’m all done here. 😂
