Re: TFAS Week of 8/19

  • What number are you trying for? 2

    Month/Cycle? 10

    WTO/TWW? WTO

    Ages of other child(ren)? 1.5

Any thoughts about this cycle? Not sure why this one would be different from any other month but I always hope this is going to be “the one”

    Any questions? Nope

Rant/Rave/Brag: I’m so happy with how our vacation went. DD did awesome on the long drive. While we were there we tried really hard to stick her schedule/routine and I think it worked because she was so happy and had so much fun. She also did great in the pack & play which I was shocked about, but there was only one night where she woke up crying. So it was an amazing vacation and I feel so lucky because it could have very easily been the total opposite! She’s having a harder time adjusting to being back at home, but I’m sure it’s confusing for her. My rant is that I missed you guys! It was just too hard to keep up and it ended up being a great mental break/refresh, but I’m definitely happy to be back here!

GTKY: We have pool passes and didn’t use them nearly enough. I want to try to go as much as possible in these next 2 weeks!

  • What number are you trying for? 3

    Month/Cycle? 3/4 AL

    WTO/TWW? WTO

    Ages of other child(ren)? 4 and 2

Any thoughts about this cycle? I’m 2 days in so I’m still hopeful. In 3 weeks I’m sure I’ll be a basket case.

    Any questions? None.

Rant/Rave/Brag: My son started school last week (Pre-K) and he is loving it. He asked me every day this weekend when he was going back. He went to “school” last year twice a week but somehow this feels bigger and more real for him. My daughter is having a hard time without him. She asks about him constantly and cries if we get in the car for any purpose other than to go pick him up. It’s really sweet but my heart hurts for her.

GTKY: Labor Day is in 2 weeks! Where did summer go? What’s something you want to make sure you do before it’s over? Nothing. I’m summer’d our. Bring on the Fall!

@bows22 Glad you guys had a nice trip! Hopefully she adjusts back to her usual routine quickly. And it’s nice to get you back! Hoping this is it for you! Let’s all go to May so we can just keep everyone from TTGP together. Sound good? I’m on board.

@bows22 your road trip sounds so great! How far did you go? Farthest we've gone with DD was 6-7 hours, and she also did better than expected. Such a nice surprise when things actually go better than expected (:

@tyrion_ that is so cute about your son wanting to go to school. Sounds like a little dude after my own heart. ❤️ Just like you, I'm ready for fall. Too stinking hot!!

AFM- sorry I've been a bad TFAS participant lately. I've been so triggered with everything related to DD lately that I just needed a mental break. She started at pre-pre-school (?) this week and I've been emotionally dreading it (not for her, she had a totally great transition so far) because in no way did I ever imagine I would still not be KU when this happened. It's a struggle but I'm trying to take it one day at a time.

What number are you trying for? 2

    Month/cycle: 15/17

    WTO/TWW: WTO

Ages of other children? 2, but only a few months from 3 😬

Any thoughts about this cycle? Not really. I have my first RE consult this cycle and I am trying to just keep thinking happy thoughts about that. Obviously, there's no promise that the RE will get me KU, but it feel good to be bringing in the big guns, so to speak.

    Any questions? Not right now!

Rant/rave/brag: As I alluded to above, DD started at a new school today and did awesome! No accidents, she ate her whole lunch, and no tears at drop-off! (from her anyway, lol). It makes my schedule a little hard (I have to leave work earlier every day, and start earlier in the morning) but this new place is literally two blocks away, and $100/week cheaper than daycare. Which is insane.

GTKY: just like @tyrion_ said, bring on fall! I have a fall bucket list, but I feel like we've accomplished everything I could want out if this summer!
  • @tyrion_ I am totally on board with your plan! A BMB filled with TTGP-ers is the dream! I’m so glad your little boy loves school so much, but your poor daughter! So sweet.

@jennifer_louise the drive was a little over 10 hours in the car, the total trip was a lot longer because when we stopped we would let DD run around for awhile. I bought some stuff from the Target dollar spot that I knew she would like (and be interested in since it was new) and we listened to her music most of the way. Plus the trip was so long we hit both naptime and bedtime so she slept for a decent amount too.
That’s wonderful that your DD did so great at school! I know what you mean about expecting to be KU, our first month trying I held off booking this vacation because I would have been due about 4 weeks after. So every month it’s been “okay I’ll be x weeks on vacation.” Never expecting that I would still be trying. It’s just....not fair. I’m sorry that you are struggling. We are here for you! ❤️(But totally understand when you need a break too.) When is your RE appointment?
  • Oh also, boo to both of you! I’m not ready for summer to be over!

@bows22 good your DD did so well on the long drive. It's impressive you were able to keep to her schedule with traveling. All the kudos to you!

@tyrion_ so glad the transition to Pre-K has been so great for your DS. Sorry your DDb is having such a hard time adjusting.

@jennifer_louise glad to hear your DD did well with school. I'm sorry to hear you've been struggling so much lately.

What number are you trying for? 2

    Month/Cycle? 2/2

    WTO/TWW? WTO

Ages of other child(ren)? 18 months

Any thoughts about this cycle? It's CD 21 and so far no sign of O. FF is predicting possibly next week for FW, so I'm hopeful.

    Any questions? Not really

Rant/Rave/Brag: DD's daycare will be closed all next week as a new owner takes over and does some big renovations. They're planning to have it ready to open the first week in September when school starts back up. DD will officially move into the toddler room at that point. She's only been going one day a week this summer which is why she didn't move up to the toddler room right at 18 months. I'm in denial that my baby is old enough to move out of the infant room. 😭

GTKY: Labor Day is in 2 weeks! Where did summer go? What’s something you want to make sure you do before it’s over?
Ooh that's a good question. We've been meaning to visit friends at their lake house and hang out for the first time since they became parents 3 months ago. I'm ready to say goodbye to summer weather but not to summer itself.

    Edited for wording
  • @bows22 Aw, I’m so happy you guys had such a good time and your DD did so well. That really makes or breaks a vacay! We had the same luck with our pool- how does life get so crazy and you just don’t get to things.

@tyrion_ that really is so sweet about your daughter, but I’m sure hard. And that is great your DS is loving Pre-K!

@jennifer_louise I’m sorry you’ve been struggling a little bit, but I hope your consult with the RE goes well. Isn’t it insane how much daycare costs? Glad your DD did great and you can start to save a bit of $ from daycare costs!

@gingermama29 I’ll be crossing my fingers for O for you. Good luck with the transition to a new classroom for DD!

Any thoughts about this cycle? Hoping to O soon and just happy my DH is here so timing isn’t so stressful.

    Any questions? Nope

Rant/Rave/Brag: DS had his 15 month appointment yesterday and he did great for shots. He is adjusting so much better to his new daycare now, I’m so relieved. His schedule is still adjusting a bit but we are getting there. He’s been so cute recently as he’s started stating and then repeating who is with him - my in laws visited over the weekend and if my MIL and I were with him he would just keep saying “mama, nana, mama, nana”.  Or if it’s my DH and I “dada, mama, dada mama”. So adorable.

GTKY: Labor Day is in 2 weeks! Where did summer go? What’s something you want to make sure you do before it’s over?

Oh gosh, I would also be ok if this summer ended :P , it’s been so hot and I’m ready for some cooler weather. I would like to go the the pool and/or splash pad a few more times though!

Any thoughts about this cycle? I was feeling super super hopeful and so excited for our first IUI but now I'm so worried I'm Oing before my follies are ready.  My follies haven't reached 20mm, as of yesterday the biggest was just at 17mm, and my lining was almost at 7mm - BUT I got a peak OPK yesterday and this morning and my LH level on my bloodwork yesterday was at 12.5 which indicates to them that it's the start of O.  I need these little eggs can hold out until my next RE appointment Thursday morning in the hopes we can do the IUI Friday. We need to make sure we HIO tomorrow night for sure though, I know that much!

Any questions? So many questions lol - but they are all for my RE (what do we do if I'm releasing immature eggs? What do I do to get my lining to thicken faster? Can we still get the IUI in time this cycle?)

But for you ladies - anyone here take gummy PNV? I can't swallow those damn large pills, plus i feel sick when I do, so I take gummies - curious what kind you all take!

Rant/Rave/Brag: Pretty sure I just gave my rant above!  I just can't wait to get home to my boys!!

GTKY: Labor Day is in 2 weeks! Where did summer go? What’s something you want to make sure you do before it’s over?  I just want to soak up as much family pool time as possible these next two weeks!

@tyrion_ I'm dying!!! Isn't that so true for us all though?! haha So glad DS is loving school! And I am melting at how much your DD loves your DS... their bond sounds so magical!

@jennifer_louise sending you hugs, mama - I get it! I've been there... way too many times. I am excited for you to meet with your RE this cycle. I really felt a weight lift off my shoulders after I met with mine, and I didn't expect to feel that way so it was a pleasant surprise.  Bring in those big guns, for sure!!

@gingermama29 I hope you guys make it to your friend's lake house!! make it happen!

I'm with @bows22 I am not ready for summer to be over - although I love fall very much, I just don't want it to arrive yet!!

@rachelg777 so glad YH is there and you don't have the extra stress of trying to figure out timing. It must feel wonderful to all be together!!!

  • @gingermama29 aww the toddler room! DD’s daycare moves them over right at 1 which definitely felt way too early. 18 months makes much more sense, but it’s so bittersweet to see them move to the next stage of anything no matter when it happens. I’m sure your DD will do great though! She will probably love being around the big kids!

@rachelg777 that is so cute with your DS and saying names. It’s like is so excited that he figured out what names mean! And I’m so happy to hear he is adjusting to daycare well! DD took awhile to adjust to the schedule change too. They switched her to 1 nap before she was really ready, but 1 nap is much more convenient so I don’t blame them!

@kpearse99 I know there were times that my in-laws wished we didn’t have to go to the room for lunch/nap time, but I also know they were happy when DD was still a fun, happy girl by the end of the night so they were on board with our plan. For PNVs, I take the vita fusion gummy vitamins. I have a history of anemia so I also take an iron supplement every other day, which seems to be enough to keep my iron levels OK without upsetting my stomach.

    Any questions? Nope

Rant/Rave/Brag: DD has been really into me over DH lately. It is nice to get the extra snuggles, but sometimes I just need DH to take care of her instead of me.

GTKY: What’s something you want to make sure you do before it’s over? I would like to get to the pool with DD, but I don't think that is going to happen. We are heading to the zoo Saturday and have a baby shower Sunday. Then next weekend is a bunch of family things.

@tyrion_ That must be difficult dealing with two opposing emotions with your kids. Hopefully DD gets used to it with time.

@jennifer_louise Yay for DD doing well at school and that it is cheaper! I'm sorry about all the struggles with TTC, hopefully your upcoming appointment goes well.

@gingermama29 It is tough to see them grow up, but I'm sure she will have so much fun in the new room!

@rachelg777 That is great that DS is adjusting well to the new daycare.

@kpearse99 I just took the Up&Up large pills previously. Now I have supplements from my FM practitioner, so no prenatal.

  • Hi ladies!  Sorry I've been a bag TFAS-er (I write that before seeing @jennifer_louise saying the same thing, haha).  I've been hyper focused on this cycle so I've been putting all my energy into dailies and TTCAL.

@bows22 That's awesome you had a great trip!  We always go through a bit of a rough transition coming back from a trip, but I bet keeping her to her usual schedule will help have her back to normal in no time!

@tyrion_ Awwww that makes my heart melt that YD misses her big brother so much!  And I am 4 weeks in and 100% a basket case right now!

@jennifer_louise Oh girl.  I could have written your post.  I feel this so much.  I can't believe how long this time has taken, and that my first will be 3 in less than 3 months.  It's so hard, and I've been triggered a lot lately too.  I've basically completely stopped participating in my BMB from DS because everyone is having babies and getting pregnant and posting about it, and one mom is even on her 3rd since her N16 baby.  That one was probably the hardest one to hear, even though she had trouble TTC her first and so I'm obviously so happy for her.  All of the feelings.  Big hugs.

@gingermama29 DS is moving into the 3s preschool room on Monday and I'm completely in denial.

@rachelg777 Awww that's so cute with the "mama nana"

@kpearse99 Keeping everything crossed that your O hangs on!!!  Hopefully you just have a long surge.

@m6agua I hear you on it being both wonderful and awful when they go through a mama phase.  Lately DS is outright refusing MH and it's so exhausting.  Glad YH's work schedule is conducive to your timing this cycle!!!

Any thoughts about this cycle?  I'm giving it everything I've got to try and stay positive!

Any questions?  Has anyone night trained their LO?  DS is basically 100% potty trained now, but we decided not to do naps or night time because I need to preserve some sanity.  I'm kind of hoping he'll just do it naturally on his own.  But I also don't want to doom him and wait too long.  I think the Oh Crap book says no later than 3.5, but I've heard many say they didn't listen to that recommendation.

Rant/Rave/Brag:  I swear DS knows when I'm in my fertile window and turns into an absolute terror to try and convince me he should be an only child.  He's the sweetest boy, and then the last few cycles, right around O, he decides to make bedtime a nightmare.  What the hell, kid?  Haha.

GTKY: Labor Day is in 2 weeks! Where did summer go? What’s something you want to make sure you do before it’s over?

I want to get in maximum lake time!!!  I love Fall the most, but having the boat and living on the lake has made me love summer so much more than I used to.  We always feels like don't get enough summer weekends.  Winter, on the other hand, never seems to end.

  • @shamrocandroll I so wish that we had a longer winter here. The past year or two we've barely even gotten snow! I wish we could trade summer and winter weeks. lol its been hot here since like april. I feel you hard on the bedtime thing, sometimes, I cant imagine getting two kiddos to bed!

@m6agua I hope that you are able to get in some pool time! Its sweet and hard when they're super attached to one over the other!

@kpearse99 Im hoping everything goes well with the IUI. Ive been taking the olly brand prenatal, and I like it, I dont think it has any iron though.

@rachelg777 I hear you on the cooler weather! That sounds so cute! DS does the same and its so fun!

@gingermama29 I hope you get some clarity on O soon! Its so bittersweet when theyre growing. I told MH that were saying DS is a baby until hes at least 2! 😂

@jennifer_louise That is soo nice about daycare! except the earlier day! I hope the RE helps you!

@tyrion_ poor DD, I bet that is so hard for her. Glad your DS is liking prek though!

@bows22 Im glad that you had a good vaca, and dd did well! We took DS to destin when he was like 9 months old, and it was sooo hard to keep up with a schedule and keep our other vaca guests happy.

Any thoughts about this cycle? Hopeful, Hopeful that SMEP helps and that we aren't ttgp for a while this go around. Friends and family are already asking us when were giving them another, and its kind of annoying.

    Any questions? nope

Rant/Rave/Brag: DS has impressed me so much with how much hes developed over the past bit, hes getting so big. He's still struggling a bit going to bed at night so I hope that resolves soon.

GTKY: Labor Day is in 2 weeks! Where did summer go? What’s something you want to make sure you do before it’s over?
Id like to hit up the river a few more times and let DS play. Its so hot, humid and buggy here that im just ready for cooler weather. I hate when all of the leaves fall off and it gets all grey and ugly, and when Daylight savings (ends, begins? i don't ever remember which) happens and it gets dark at 5 though.
  • @photographerwife Oh man.  Winter is like 6 months here.  And COLD.  It gets old fast.  Sorry you're annoyed by people asking about giving *them* another one.  That can quickly go from kind of annoying to downright upsetting after a while.  I hope you don't reach that point like I have.

  • @shamrocandroll ***hugs*** to you too friend. I actually "missed" you a lot lately since neither of us were really around here. I have so many FX for you this time around, your commitment to SMEP is truly inspiring!!
Also, DD is night trained! I hesitate to tell this to other parents, because she basically trained herself. Maybe just a couple weeks into our Oh Crap regimen, she just said she didn't want a diaper on at bedtime and she had been waking up dry so we gave it a go. And....it worked! She's just really good at holding it I guess! 🐫 I don't even remember the last time she wet the bed (although last week she purposely spilt water on there because she wanted her other sheets on, 🙄). Does your DS wake up wet or dry?

@photographerwife hope it goes fast for you this time around too!! Those questions about #2 drive me nuts too. I usually lie out of my teeth when I say "we're not ready yet".

@m6agua yes, pool time is one huge thing I will miss about summer. Sometimes I'm like, what did we do during the winter again? But there's an indoor pool nearby soon, so at least we can still do that!

@kpearse99 I've been religiously following your IUI adventure this cycle and hoping it all works out perfectly!!

@rachelg777 totally insane how much daycare is! I get so jealous of people whose parents watch their kids full time (such as my SIL). But oh well, I guess we've decided it's worth it to us!
  • @m6agua can your DD tell mine that moms are pretty cool too? Haha, seriously though I’m sorry she isn’t giving you a break lately.

@shamrocandroll bedtime has not been great here either since vacation. I’m in my FW so maybe my DD is trying to sabotage me too! And yes to lake time! We want to get one more trip in before the boat comes out of the water. We took DD’s life vest on vacation just in case I decided I wanted it, and she was not amused that her vest was there but no boat. So we definitely owe her a trip for tricking her 😂 good luck with the night training, I am dreading all things potty training related.

@photographerwife DD will be 21 months next week and her development is definitely taking off so it must be the age! My mom watches her 2 days a week and was shocked at how much she learned while we were away. It’s so fun! I‘m sorry people are bugging you about when you are having another baby. I don’t know why everyone seems to be under the impression that it’s something you can choose? But it’s annoying for sure. Also, I will gladly share some of my winter with you!
  • @jennifer_louise He very rarely wakes up dry. He also seems afraid to ask to go potty during nap time at daycare and usually wakes up wet after nap there, but not at home (though he doesn't really nap at home anymore). Really hoping he does it on his own, but kid drinks a ton of water. And he has super dry sensitive skin, so I hesitate to limit that.

@bows22 Haha, that's so cute about her being mad there was no boat. I dream of being on the water to get through the really cold winter days when it feels like we'll never get to be out there again. I wish I could bottle that feeling.

  • @shamrocandroll we will help you stay positive!! Living on a lake sounds amazing, especially in the summer time! I hope you get to go back out on the boat a few more times! I’m like @jennifer_louise with my DS sort of training himself at nighttime. I noticed that he was waking up dry every morning so i decided to give it a try and just make sure he peed before bed and it all worked out. But I also know we were really lucky for that to have been our experience.  I know you said yours doesn’t wake up dry in the mornings but What about after naps? Maybe you could just start with naptime?

@photographerwife I hate when everything gets gray and colorless too and when the day times are so short!

@jennifer_louise thanks for rooting me on, friend! I have no idea whats gonna end up happening this cycle now but I am choosing to remain positive that everything will be okay no matter what! I’ll know tomorrow!

  • @kpearse99 At home, he wakes up dry, but not at daycare.  I think he's afraid to ask to go to the potty when it's still quiet time.  They tried going without a pull-up there, but I was having to wash his daycare sheets and blanket daily, so I said hold off on that.  I'd also really love to be able to wait until he can 100% get up and just go on his own without waking us up, but it sounds like we're still a ways from that, haha.

  • @kpearse99 Home today!! I hope your follies have been holding out!
@bows22 Yes that is exactly what is happening with us too, he really could still use two naps some days and is in a transition with it. But I agree, it makes the schedule so much easier for them!
@m6agua Glad your DH's schedule works out this week for your FW!
@shamrocandroll Kids always just seem to know when to act up ;) sorry about the rough bedtime!
@photographerwife Good luck with bedtime, we've been transitioning with that too.

  • @shamrocandroll hmmmm how long is nap at daycare? Do they take him to the bathroom right before nap? (I’m assuming they do)

  • @kpearse99 Quiet time is about 2 hours, but he usually only sleeps for about 1.  Then has quiet time until it's time to get up.  He goes before nap, but he also drinks a ton of water, and despite them telling him he can go potty during nap time, he just won't for some reason.  But otherwise he's 100% accident free at daycare finally, and that took a long freaking time, so I'm hesitant to take the nap pull up away and have him get too discouraged.  He always gets really upset when he has accidents now.  So I feel like I should just leave well enough alone for a bit.  Especially since he moves up to the 3s class next week and big changes usually make him regress a little bit.

  • @gingermama29 I’m so glad the daycare transition is going well! I felt sense of relief on your behalf when I read that she went straight for the toddler room. It really makes everything so much better when changes go smoothly
  • Daycare moms - how frequently do you end up calling and checking in with the daycare? DD has asthma that we are still working on controlling so if there is a morning that she sounds questionable, I end up calling for reassurance that she is doing okay. It usually happens once a month, and I just wonder if other parents call or if I’m just extra annoying? I called once already today and kind of want to call again this afternoon and need to be talked out of it haha
  • @bows22 Fellow asthma mom here - if they are having breathing troubles, I almost always go to the side of over-caution.  I'm not like that all the time, and I've been lucky in that he's always had a teacher with asthma experience, but I still don't take it lightly.  I go in and show them exactly what to do, how to do it, what to look for, and then I have them write down observations and any inhaler doses they administered.  I think if you're not the mom who calls twice a day every day, they won't mind at all if you call multiple times while you're still getting used to a new asthma maintenance plan.  I don't take breathing trouble lightly.  PM me if you ever want to chat about it more!  Hugs!

  • @bow22 I haven't ever called daycare, but DD doesn't have any health issues.

@kpearse99 That is great news about your RE, FX this cycle works.

  • @shamrocandroll thank you! I did almost just PM you because I know you have been there! But figured if someone else wanted to chime in and say they call daily I would feel better 😂. DD has a teacher that suffered from severe asthma growing up so I trust her completely and is kind of why I feel bad calling - I “know” that they would call me if something seemed off but my brain doesn’t always use logic when it comes to DD. But I think I am going to call again once nap time is over. I definitely don’t want to be the mom that ruins nap time.
  • @bows22 No health issues but DS goes to a small daycare and I text the owner if I have any questions or concerns... she probably texts me or I text her about once a day. :)
  • @bows22 and @shamrocandroll I used to teach preschool/daycare to 3 year olds.  If the parent came to me that morning at drop off and told me what was going on that morning at home, I always told them to call at anytime if they wanted/needed an update - but I also reassured them that I would call them if anything at all was happening or going on.

I never minded, as a pre-school teacher, if the parents called to check in!

  • @kpearse99 Thanks!  I get that helicopter moms are annoying, but personally I think if a daycare is upset by a parent who is concerned and calls twice a day when there is an ongoing issue, then you should find a new daycare!  Regular communication with the people who watch my child 8+ hours a day is a must for me.  Also, my daycare recently started using an app, and I love it so far because I get updates throughout the day.  :)
