It's funny how it's the little things in life that mean the most...not where you live, or what you drive, or the price tag on your clothes... There's no dollar sign on a piece of mind, this I've come to know! *ZBB*
Ohhhhh I have a good one for today. A little back story: I got a new supervisor last summer. What made it crappy was I basically had to train him to do his job, and he retained maybe 25% of what I taught him, even though I provided him with job aides, email templates, reminders in MS Outlook, etc. So, I have a really hard time respecting this man because I see him as completely incompetent. Also, he went through a divorce last year because of his transfer here, so he's very bitter.
ANYWAY, a couple months ago, we were in a branch meeting, and were discussing plans for when one of our junior folks was going to go on bed rest because she was having a complicated pregnancy. He dramatically rolled his eyes and said, "I am so sick of every pregnancy being high-risk. Not every pregnancy is high-risk, these women just want more time off work." I was aghast, but didn't say anything because 1) he outranks me, and 2) his supervisor was sitting right there and she said diddly squat about it.
Fast-forward to yesterday's branch meeting. Now that two of our folks are out on maternity leave, we were discussing how to maintain coverage on their workload for the next 3 months, as well as other topics such as how to improve our business processes. His suggestion: "Birth control, duh." I sh*t you not. I was shocked. All I could muster was a very obvious, "Wow." To which he responded, "I was just joking." Sure you were, you dillhole. I bet.
@ttcbabyodo Are. You. Kidding. Me. I would, no joke, report him to HR, anonymously if you have to do so. That is 100% discrimination/harassment. What an absolute POS. I sure hope some poor woman (or man) doesn't have to be married to that POS. Ew. DISGUSTING. especially the birth control comment. W.T.F. Dick Punch from me.
woah... how has he not been reported to HR yet? that is 100% discrimination under EEO for current employees if you have over 15 employees at your place of work.
@ttcbabyodo - OMG that is awful to have to sit there and listen to that at work! I'm sure you were so uncomfortable. Agree with PP's, that 100% qualifies as workplace discrimination/harassment (creating an extremely hostile environment for women and especially anyone who is considering getting pregnant) and he should absolutely be reported. Maybe you can do it anonymously! And HR would certainly not publicize who reported him. Does he live under a rock??? It's 2019, d-bag!!
@ttcbabyodo I probably would have had a hard time restraining myself after comments like that!!

Thank you, ladies! You gave me the reassurance and confidence to report it to his supervisor. Thankfully, she and I have a really good rapport so she was very receptive to my comments. I don't have 100% faith that she'll confront him about it, but at least I said something so it's on her radar now. If he ever says anything of the sort again, though, I will be going higher up with my complaint.
@ttcbabyodo oh hello - I'm former AD, so I totally get it. I used to give guys (who outranked me) 3 strikes... verbally. "Hey, strike 2 on that" and by strike 2 I let them know, strike 3 = IG. I got labeled the bitch 100% but had 2 dudes who outranked this particular troll back me up and made him apologize and stop.
@ttcbabyodo I don't think his wife left him because of the transfer - that was just her excuse. I just can't comprehend someone being stupid enough to say shit like that out loud, even if they believe it. Can you imagine living with him?
@ttcbabyodo OMG what a jerk! So glad you reported him, because if that's what he's willing to say in front of a group of people, there is no way he's a good coworker on a one-on-one basis either! I don't know if you're an Ask a Manager fan (2nd time today I've brought that up @inthewoods23 ) but her advice when people say awful things like that in front of people and you have to react is typically a "wow" or some way to express that what they have said is surprising to you, so I think she would approve!

@ttcbabyodo wow I’m glad you reported it and his supervisor took it well. He sounds like the worst and I agree his wife is most likely using the transfer as an excuse... I don’t think I know of anyone who wanted/enjoyed bedrest. Also might be different depending on where you work but where I used to work it came out of FMLA so it meant less time with baby after birth though I’ve heard of people donating their vacation time to help in these situations before.

@ttcbabyodo That’s crazy! Unfortunately, I could imagine some of my male Co-workers saying that.
I want to TP my GM. My boss’s last day is tomorrow and the GM brought in a candidate today and emailed us managers this morning, two hours notice, to come meet the candidate later today. I work mornings, and have to be back earlier tonight to work an even earlier shift tomorrow, so I can’t stick around to meet this guy. Had I known he was coming, I could have planned around it. So now I get to be the only manager to not meet someone who could be the new boss, when I specially asked the GM to keep me in the loop because I wanted to be a part of the decision. 🙄
My coworker, while normally pretty annoying because she talks SO MUCH and repeats herself constantly, is about to make me TP her for her pronunciation of "known." She adds a friggin' syllable so it sounds like "know-an." If you're going to get stuck on repeat and keep me from being productive, at least don't pronounce things like a moron! FWIW she has about 10 other words that she constantly mispronounces and it makes me twitchy.
@MrsVP614 - arrggh! That is so disrespectful to you and your time! (Or it could be a miscommunication I suppose but I have PMS and I'm NOT feeling charitable to people who pull that kind of crap today!)
@stassischroeder your description of this girl made me feel DEEPLY annoyed by her without even witnessing it in person.
I think I posted about her a few times the last time I was on TTGP. Pretty sure I posted about how she went to a Keith Urban concert, and the next day said to me "he has some sort of accent. Is he from Alaska?" She's very sweet, but oh so cringy.
@emeraldduchess haha, no THANK GOD that's not one of her regular faux pas. I can't think of the others at this moment, but I'll be sure to update when I do!
And I really want more details on your foot-in-mouth situation
I’d like to TP cvs Caremark for denying my letrozole because I have “maxed out my 30 day refills and must have a 90”. HEY GUYS that’s not how letrozole works for fertility treatments. But bless the pharmacist that gave me two pills for free to get me thru tmrw while I sort this out
@chichiphin I get letters every so often telling me I need to choose if I'm going to continue pickup of the BCP at the pharmacy or do the 90 day home delivery. I have to go online and select that I still want to fill it through the pharmacy and not have it mailed.
I hate insurance
