@chichiphin it's such a shitty thing to do!

I would assume pickles are either in the jar or put on a plate though so at least that shouldn't be as bad as saying you're allergic to something that gets cooked with other things on a grill or what have you.

Is a pickle allergy even a thing? 🤔

@chichiphin right?!? I can't wait until we move back to civilization.

@EmilyLove25 @inthewoods23 ok I guess I can give the infrequent drinkers a pass lol. But can we start a petition to stop calling the sweet stuff wine? Or maybe just start putting it into pouches like Capri Sun?  :D

@ttcbabyodo that's right up there with people who say they like coffee, but in reality they just like flavored creamers and sugary, barely-coffee drinks from Starbucks.

@chichiphin I'm a vodka gal, and love moscow mules! And my go-to wine is Pinot Grigio :) I don't often drink reds in the summer unless it's with a meal, and then I default to what goes well with the meal. If I'm going to do a red without a meal, I tend to like Pinot Noirs, Syrah, and sometimes Merlot.

Not sure if this is pretentious or just makes me sound like a proper alcoholic  :D

I used to drink moscato and Riesling in college when I first started trying to be “cultured” (aka move on from disgusting Burnett’s and drink a “real” drink) but now just the thought of them gives my a headache. They were definitely my gateway drug to the rest of wine though so I can’t hate too much, because now I love wine (used to hate red before DH, now I love merlot, Malbec, and basically every red blend...still love Pinot Grigio too)

@chichiphin and @stassischroeder You're breaking my heart. I feel like I should send you each a case of good Zin or Pinot *waives from wine country in sunny CA*

+1 to sweet wines being garbage. My only exception is a small glass of really good port (Meyer Family Wines) on a cold winter night. Mmmmm!

I used to drink reisling and moscato in my 20s, now I can't stand them. They're like Kool-Aid. *Maybe* ok as a base for white sangria. MAYBE.

Not a fan of cantaloupe or honeydew melon, either. Bleck.

  • Options
@emeraldduchess I will take all your honeydew melon, thank you very much! 😃

Fruit salads though... I basically steer clear of those because they are gross to me now. The watermelon ALWAYS ends up tasting like the strawberries. All the juices mix together and bleh!

@inthewoods23 We had a potluck at work a while back and one of my coworkers brought a fruit salad.  It had bananas on it and she didn't put it in the refrigerator when she got to work.  And I think she put honey on it or something.  It was....different.  But I do agree with you that most fruit salads end up tasting like the strongest of the fruits in it

I don’t like to discriminate with wines 🤣 My preference is Sauvingnon Blanc or Pinot Noir so that is what I buy mostly but I will happily drink a Moscato, Riesling, or sweet red if it’s offered to me 🤷🏻‍♀️ The only wine I don’t like is Pinot Grigio, it tastes like dirt to me!

My UO is that I was born and raised near the area @stassischroeder is now and I'm proud of it! I'm probably still totally naive and sheltered, but I'm getting better.

I do enjoy wine, nothing too sweet, but prefer beer. Although I would probably be judged if I told you all my preferences (aka summer shandy).

@kagesstarshroom Love that gif! Also loving this wine theme! Agree with all previous comments about moscato. I especially can’t stand when women (it’s always women) think they’re being classy when they mention how much they love “moscaDo”. 🙄 It is crap sugar in a glass.

    @bows22 Exactly about oak-y Chardonnay! Wood chips=Nasty!

My UO is that rosé looks pretty but tastes like watered-down hot mess.

Give me all the Prosecco, Cava, Sauvignon Blanc, & Pinot Gris. Refreshing!

@keikilove (and others) but sometimes I want sugar in a glass! I think drinking moscato is like drinking alcoholic sprite. I do agree though that you aren’t a “wine drinker” if that’s your go-to

I love moscato's! But I fall under the not a regular drinker category. My favorite liquor is rum.

@chichiphin So I respect your opinion. I do think people who are GF don't have to make a huge deal about it when it isn't a anaphylactic type reaction. So other conditions are effected by gluten. First, the wheat here is so adulterated compared to what you find in say Italy and other places and that is why it is effecting more and more people. It is sort of like the straw that is tipping the boat for a lot of health conditions. Second, people with thyroid conditions should avoid gluten because of molecular mimicry. Basically the gluten molecules look similar to thyroid molecules. So if you have a thyroid issue, your body tries to attack the gluten and ends up attacking your thyroid. Third, because of the first point, it can cause leaky gut and impairs the tight junctions. My brother is not Celiac, but is severely allergic to wheat. So much so, that he cannot consume certain brands of anything if they were manufactured in a plant with wheat. He will react if you toast bread and he is sitting in the room, if he uses a microwave that someone used with a gluten containing food, and on and on.
